Great game, 2 quality clubs, i thought Panthers would get them but when I heard Ivan Cleary only 17/38 lifetime v Bellamy I got worried !
And rightly so.

Apart from the penalty milked by Grant on the Cleary FG I thought the pea blower let the game flow. Let head highs that were, up until last week, blown as penalties go and did not use the 6 agains to ruin the game (1 issued in the entire game). Ruck interference by both teams was accepted, off side kick chasers were not pinged (not that it occurred often so could have been a simple miss) and there were several times players, on both sides, were never on side.

The question is: do we see that same approach taken across the weekend or is the more leninet interpretation of the rules reserved for title contenders so the TV audience is entertained? I trust that there has been some common sense applied to the head high situations and the same leeway around the ruck is applied going forward, but how do you know as a player what set of rules you need to prepare for?
 
Is Harry Grant a grub for deliberately running into Leota to have that field goal disallowed?

I suppose that at least the Penrith trainer didn't run across the field as a blocker for Cleary's field goal attempt.

Grant was also responsible for them changing the rule after he used to deliberately pass the ball into opposition players when they were on the ground offside in the ruck, well at least that was the rule until last weekend.

Very smart player and really quick between the ears, some call it gamesmanship, I call it being a grubby cheat, no better than B.itch Moses.

Looks like who ever cheats and bends the rules the best will win this comp. 🤣
 
3 things I hate and the nrl can fix
Forward passes , coaches I’m sure are saying flat pass are good but sneak it forward if you can get away with it , it’s a poor part of the game .
Deliberate off side , teams just not getting back - touch judges do your job and call it out .
Play the ball , rolling the pill with out attempting to use foot , when allowed to players just almost throw it under the, it’s poor , again the ref is right there , outcome , if it’s policed hard enough for couple weeks it stops , coaches would not want to keep handing the ball back to the other team ,
