OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

If that's the case why rush over now......
He is currently a free agent until he re commits with us for another 12 months, which he has to do by April 30, once he does this he will not be a free agent again until Nov 1. There may be a few Marquee players they are talking to and they obviously cannot sign them all, so Jerome getting in early to sus things out.

I said at the start of the year we have no experienced recruitment team and a CEO who is new in his role that’s not dealt with salary cap negotiations and management.

Now we have Terrell saying publicly the club “forgot” about his extension, Jarome possibly leaving, Bula with no indication of his future and a lot of key players off contract at the same time. Benji is an NRL head coach he was never going to be able to do it alone. Seemingly no desire for a GM of football either. They needed to be more proactive.
On the Jarome to PNG thing, if he’s motivated by money, it wouldn’t matter who the CEO is / was, you’re not stopping that move. It’s simply too big of a carrot.

PNG had been available for a little while now and perhaps Jarome will be the catalyst for a signing frenzy, perhaps not, but I think the players will come from a variety of clubs and not just ours.

Totally agree. Jarome leaving in isolation is fine. The lack of extensions for other players that we intend to build the club around in the absence of Jarome is my concern.

lol the idiots on here that think we would be in this position if Richo was still here don’t understand or grasp what he was able to do or is able to do as CEO still.

3 premierships (1 in the EL) with 4 teams and I prelim final with another.

Signed all key recruits we have plus got rid of dead wood.

benji can’t be trying to do deals whilst coaching too. Sure he can talk to players but contract negotiations go on and on.

Now that’s he’s left all this instability with bula and Jarome and the may brothers not singed up to what they want etc.

The guy in control now has never run a rugby league club.

And this is what we get.

Oh and btw before he got sacked he was dealing with bula and Romey.

And before the idiots say hbg wasn’t the problem, my cousin is Roger Fabri - and he told me that it derailed bula. It was done before Richo left.
I Think it would have derailed Moses . Benji and him hate each other , but that’s neither here nor there when it comes to business . The issue would be is this the best place for my client . And all that December shit did was reinforce that the ownership group are a bunch of Monkeys , completely slaves to their emotions and whims .
To be honest though , IMO fullback is the running back of the nrl . There’s heaps of 7/8 out of 10 fullbacks . But very little 9/9.5 out of 10 . A let’s be serious Bula is a 7/8 out of 10 . He just shows real potential to get to that next level . But man we definitely have juniors with the same upside . Multiple actually … it’s just do we want to endure the 2-3 year teething out process of getting them to 50 not games and all that entails . Probably not .
But the big thing is if Luai leaves , AD will go to 6 , Latu to 7 , madden off the bench and let Andruws develop his body for a couple of years . That’s still a pretty elite spine if Bula stays . If he goes a year of say a Joey Manu or an older guy might be the go . Or we roll the dice with the kids . Personally …. I’d go real hard at Sharp . He’s got Origin potential

If Bula goes at the end of the year I go all in on Manu for 2 years. I think we have a serious crack at the title in 2027 and this needs to be the focus.

I would actually be talking to Manu already, and judging by how much of a fanboy he is of Benji's im sure the discussions are already underway.

Imagine all the hoo haa in the media and.the shot in the arm for the club if he announces on thursday or friday hes staying
Positive publicity money cannot buy.

A.cynic may even suggest its been orchestrated this way....though a realist would argue 3 or 4 mill isnt to be treated.lightly

He’s exploring options now.

Will have to stay if we take up the option but come November 1, will test the market unless we pay some stupid price to extend him for a long time.

Again before Richo got sacked - the club looked stable… since then yes our results are great, but the landscape shifts.

If Jarome leaves and other players follow him, none of it helps us retain players.

We had a window. HBG stuffed it. Blew up the club for some idiots who have never had success.

Now we are seeing the fruits of Richos work. They’ll take credit probably, and then it will all fall apart, and we’ll be back where we were.

Unfortunately benji can’t do everything. He’s competing with two new clubs, plus Gus, and he has to coach a side very week.

SM is a good guy but he’s not near the same level as Richo. Shouldn’t even be mentioned intense same breath.
Can you elaborate on the SM stuff please . Because he strikes me as highly intelligent with a pedigree in a way more cutthroat sport than nrl. The only thing I can see being an issue is the negotiations with parasitic player managers like Isaac Moses.
the only difference I can see is managers smelling blood in the water and trying to take advantage of a perceived weak CEO. Just because Richo isn’t there , I can’t see how Shaun wouldn’t lean on him for advice on how to deal with guys like Isaac.
I genuinely think this next year will be teething problems re. Shaun will have to learn for himself where the knives are coming from , much like Benji tbh , but once he genuinely gets his feet under the table he will be alright .
I’d much rather Richo , but Mestrov ? He basically ran manly into the ground . HBG are a joke .

Yeah .. would destroy a lot of media planning going on now about how they are going to milk this story ..

This is where we miss an old campaigner like Richo … he would have a plan to be able to get in front of this being an ongoing media story if he announces he is leaving ..
