LIVE GAME Round 10 v Storm

Live Game Discussion
Anyone giving it to Hope is misdirecting their frustration. We had a solid back up, who was contracted through to the end of next year, and we decided to let him go. Maybe he wasn’t in the clique.
Yes. And the same people hammering Hope were ok with that decision LOL.
We reap what we sow.

A couple of things I learnt today is as follows
1)Adam Gee is the most interventionist ref in the NRL,and infletial as determining who is going to win the game.Worse than Klein
2)As hard as he tries.Heath Mason is not going to make it..awful defender and weak under the high ball. Both comments exclude him from any NRL backline position.Gotta let him go
3)Hope is not NRL standard..with an aging Api,Verrells shld be prioritised
4)Luai is going thru the motions..got one foot out the door, and for what were paying him Im happy to let him go early at end of this year. His work here, whatever it was.is done
5)May is one of the best centres in the comp.Full stop. And KPP pretty good too
All good points. I groaned when I saw Mason on the team sheet. The ESL might be more his speed. I’m not sure who that leaves but we can’t go out there with him as FB again.

Hope is an okay second fiddle but he’s terribly exposed as a starter.

Luai just won’t step up. Two awful defensive units today, he should be running riot. They had 60 plus missed or ineffective tackles. He had a line break assist and a try assist to show for it while missing 6 tackles himself.

Attard available next week....

Worth a crack?

I thought Madden looked out of his depth today. I think they all tried but they were up against it after the first 20 mins against a team that was desperate for a win.
Madden is an organiser. Get the basics right, kick effectively, make your tackles. Guy next to him is on 6 times more money and doesn’t look vastly better. Defence killed us. Man up in defence and we win. Our attack isn’t good enough to win 40-36 games.

well pending how many players get suspended ( on report ) we need to run a different team next week
Il start with
Turuva fullback , far better than Mason
Skelton wing , punch coming back Benji wanted today
Luke L wing
May centre
Herbert centre
Madden 7
Luai 6
Latu 9
Pole , May Snr , KPP , Seyfarth , Twally
Hunt , Sione , Mason , Geyer

I know man..

but our spine isnt responsible for letting in that many points.

we are about to lose 6 on the trot again.

Its a carbon copy of last season.

Manly will put 50 on us next week, thats just the reality of the situation.

I cant be optimistic, because theres nothing to be optimistic about in the next 4-6 weeks.
I will never understand this type of instant pessimism from some fans.

You really think Tigers have no chance to win in the next 4 weeks - Manly at Suncorp, then Dogs and Panthers at Commbank, Titans at Leichhardt?

It's obviously difficult because we've lost very key players, and in the current NRL I don't believe there are many teams than can cover that many key injuries. You take Jahrome, Harry Grant, Josh King, Fa'alogo and Loiero (equivalent to who we had out today) out of the Storm and consider what kind of side they are.

It's not the same as last year because last year was derailed by the Galvin stuff. We were still fielding near-strength sides. Of the 5 early wins last year, 2 were against the ultimate bottom 3 sides. As it stands right now, not an exact comparison, we've beaten 3 of the Top 8 sides (and we are one of the Top 8).

2026 is weird so far because most teams are having a bad trot. There are 10 teams with between 4 and 6 wins. More than that though, apart from Panthers and a recent Manly turn-around, teams are very unpredictable and the losing margins are high - the average loss this week was 23.5 points. Can we easily explain how Sharks beat us by 50 then get smashed by Souths? Or how Cowboys cruise past Dogs away but are done by Parramatta?

You need to get some players back on deck to properly judge if this team will play finals or not. And there's a Bye after next week, which brings the injured players 2 weeks closer for free.

One thing that always is in our DNA we do not cope well with adversity . Most other teams that have these disruptions can always spring upsets , but whenever we face these there is always a guaranteed two points for the opposition
Yes and that extends to all types of adversity.
Players missing…fall in a heap
Couple of bad ref calls….fall in a heap.
Player in the bin….fall in a heap.
Lose a player to injury mid match….fall in a heap
We need to dig in and toughen up mentally.

I get that but 4 players out and we turn to manure. We can’t be that close between a top 4 and a bottom 2 team that 4 or 5 guys out has that big an impact. I’m not saying there’s not going to be a drop off but some of those guys are kidding themselves if they think that’s first grade standard.
I don't agree - 4 to 5 guys out will kill most NRL teams, especially if I can hand-pick spine players. We are talking our key players here, not bit-players.

You can't take the fullback, halfback, hooker, starting prop and best backrower out of any side.

It’s a shame we don’t have a Ben Galea type player, I recall reading his team talk at the time they turned their attitude around in the 2005 run of wins
