You’re right, this does happen in many clubs. Manly has been fairly successful in the last 20 years and can afford to implement that strategy. We however have a really small sample of success which suggests we should pick another strategy.

If the truth is option 1, then keep the assistants and punt Benji. As you say, the assistants are ignored with this option meaning Benji would be the sole problem. Let’s hope it’s the second option and we can get decent assistants that can address the changes required and implement them...

Sukkar is the level of depth we need to continue to build. He’s solid without being a star and doesn’t let us down when he’s called upon.

This whole argument on value continues to boil down to potential and what you pay for it. Even if he was the finished product right now, is he better than a Hudson Young style backrower and what is he going to attract? Unsure it’ll be $1.2M a year. Might be different on the new cap but right now...
