TEAM LIST Team vs Storm [Round 10]

Not that I am particularly agaisnt this approach Hal, but Faalogo loves a broken line and the umberalla defence provides the opposition with gaps toattack in both width and depth. If we do decide to emply this kick chase tactic we need to get it right or it could be embarassing.

TEAM LIST Team vs Storm [Round 10]

There is every chance that Hope will be in a rotation with Latu for that reason. If that is the case I would love to see us work a plan with a traditional half and one 5/8 each side in attack late in the half with the middles taking some of the 9 load to enable it. May be complicating things a...

    Tristan Hope #293

He should be running of cues: late defender, body language, fullback not in postion on the goal line, slow or split makers etc. Api should be working him hard with this during the week. Hope is serviceable - all he has to do is stick to the system and get the ball out in front of the right...

TEAM LIST Team vs Storm [Round 10]

Unfortunately many of us a focussing on the wrong things - Melbourne and Mason. Neither of those will win or lose the game for us. We were beaten by Cronulla because we went away from our system under pressure caused by errors. The whole next man up thing is not about replacing skill - it is...

TEAM LIST Team vs Storm [Round 10]

He made his debut last week when they were punished by the Phins. He was definitely not out of place at NRL level but he was playing in a team that was poor across the park.

LIVE GAME Round 9 versus Sharks

It comes down to what Benji was expecting from Toa and Tino - experience inside youth and an aerial threat on that edge. While I have also called for Toa to be dropped I don't think the disruption to that edge in defence losing AD can be pushed aside. The coordination does not have to be out by...

LIVE GAME Round 9 versus Sharks

I do not think he is ready for grade yet - he will replace Api - but in good time. Let's not ruch his development and cruel him.

    Tristan Hope #293

Just listened to the WTF poddy - apparently Charlie left the paddock with and injury so I guess Latu is the obvious fallback; assuming Jock retains the 7.

Tigers Deep Dive of the Week

I would love to have been a fly on the wall in the review today. I trust a few owned their poor efforts and were able identify the key lessons. Unfortunatley identifying the lessons is usually the easy part - learning them takes more discipline. Next week we will learn more about our team and...

Tigers Deep Dive of the Week

I looked at posession as the other side of the coin to defence. Those stats a reflect the amount of defence we had to do - and I focussed on that because the energy drain came for the excessive defence. Tino had a Barry Crocker on the wing but I think a lot of his bad reads resulted from...

    Tristan Hope #293

Agreed, he made some errors - but he was not responsible for the 50 points against us - although he did have a bad miss under the sticks - but that was a poor defensive set up not just him - he was never going to stop him form there. Barring injury I expect us to have someone in the hooker...

Tigers Deep Dive of the Week

I had that as part of the shift I think we need to make - it is either Taruva or LL to replace Tavana on the wing with the other at Fullback. Makasini back outside of May on the wing and Herbert in for Toa to strengthen the defence on that edge is the other changes to be made if I had the clip...

    Tristan Hope #293

Tristan Hope was not the reason we lost. His effort was considerable. Fifty-eight tackles tells its own story. That is a heavy defensive workload for any hooker. He worked hard, he competed, and he did his job. If we look at the first half - sure he is not Api - but he his service was good. He...

Tigers Deep Dive of the Week

Part 2 So where did it really go wrong? For me, the turning point was not the first right-edge mistake. It was the moment we stopped winning neutral sets. Once we stopped getting through sets cleanly, the Sharks started playing downhill. Once they started playing downhill, the middle got...

Tigers Deep Dive of the Week

2026 Deep Dive 5. When the Wheels Came Off; Is it a Season Defining Event? PART 1. Yesterday hurt Not just because we got beaten badly by the Sharks. Not just because the scoreboard blew out in the second half. It hurt because, for the first time this season, our system was properly...
