If that’s how you used to defend, I’m glad I wasn’t in your team. It would have been so easy to step inside and past you. Using your outside shoulder to tackle a runner coming from your inside squares you up as the defender, exposing the man on your inside. It is poor technique.

I agree. The guy is a pro and will prepare as per normal for a big premiership season, SOO campaign and later a World Cup title defence.

I d not agree with this assessment at all. When you are on the right, you lead with your inside shoulder - the left. It is the hardest part of the field to defend for most people as the majority are right handed, thus their right shoulder is dominant. It is the wrong one to use.
