TEAM LIST Round 3 vs. Sharks

Team List
I would like to see a fit Naden and a fit Olam paired together at centre. They both have a bit of X factor.
When was the last time Naden produced said x-factor? I think you need to show it more regularly than Santa Claus visits for it to be considered x-factor.

With existing Roster cant see many options Benji has corrected 2 errors from game 1
Starting Pole whos a much better footballer than Seyfarth !
Starting with our most experienced half at 7 Sezer
Apart from that our wingers up against Katoa and Mulitalo could be a mismatch
Everything depends now on fitness and EFFORT
Note after I game sportsbet is offering the highest price ($4.30) on tigers clearly more than any other team and that's at L.O.!

Seyfarth needs to go to England. He'll be good for Featherstone
Speaking of England, does anybody else reckon Bateman looks really light? I know he has never been a big forward but last weekend he looked like he had lost weight. He seriously needs to improve his discipline. He gave away a couple of dumb penalties, hand on the ball, etc, which gifted Canberra penalties, six agains, etc. I know it was proably frustration and fatigue playing a factor, but he needs to cut it out.

Reasonable team but I'd change the following:

13. Fainu

I don't like Pole at 13. It really wears him down and we lose his impact off the bench. I also want him told one track instruction of wind up and run hard. Having to do the distribution of a lock isn't his best game, though he can obviously do it. Fainu is athletic and looks to be able to go 80 minutes. Playing Pole in the starting side impacts the balance of our team over 80 and as others have said we don't have enough impact on the bench.

Bench:
14. Simpkin or Mason
Depends if you feel Mason is ready and how confident you feel in Olam. If Olam is shaky I want a utility back on the bench and Mason seems the plucky all energy option that could come on and have an impact, while covering 1-6 and offering a little in darting out of dummy half. Simpkin if you just need a utility on the bench and Mason is still too raw. I want TDS playing 80 in reserve grade. Mason is already a better defender than Sullivan (I think...he can't be worse anyway). Sullivan can only play in the halves an is too unreliable anyway.
15. Pole
16. Twal
17. Matamua
Not sure here, there's not a lot of options. I'm preferencing Matamua because of versatility. I'd be giving only limited minutes. I really think Seyfarth offer nothing, where I'm not yet certain Matamua is a total lost cause.

I think we'll get more out of Sullivan off the bench. The side looks better.
Benji made the wrong decision to name/play him in the run-on side in the first place (in Rd 2), considering his form was lacklustre in the trials. If his selection was based on the energy he could potentially bring, then the previous should've been weighed up, especially given he's in a new team environment.
Sullivan has looked very overwhelmed IMO.

Olam and Naden have great physical attributes but both have got a dumb play in them that kills sides like ours. Naden has got at least one penalty in him each game and possible sin bin.
I'm not sure how much longer you can persist with players who don't mentally mature.

You could be right, but I think Pole is amped up.

Benjis words give us clues about his thinking.

From his recent comments, he has made form and effort, the priority in his selections.

As for discipline, this should be easily fixed as it is controllable.

I think he will want to see his game plan followed more closely this week. He’s probably warned everyone to keep it tight.

Best we could do with the cattle available, I guess.

Sezar to 7 is the go.
Like to see how that halves pairing goes against a solid opponent in Sharks.

Hopefully Naden comes into the 17 soon. I'd like to see him replace Tupou.

Why they can’t play here like they did at their previous clubs I don’t know. Why does everyone turn to shit when they sign with us?

Olam hasn’t played a competitive game here yet.

Naden had maybe half a good season at Penrith before becoming a bit of an enigma at Canterbury and here.

The pack has to be much better Stefano, Klemmer, Bateman, Papalli, Twal. That’s a good pack with experience they need to aim up as a pack. Pole and Sam Fainu go harder than veterans.

Twal isn't, and never has been, the problem.
He's the most consistent player in the team every week and always does what's asked of him.
He's not meant to be tackle breaker or hard arse.
Other blokes are supposed to fulfil those needs.
Agreed. Twal has hit his ceiling but he is dependable and consistent. Every club needs players like him. Far from our biggest problem.

Damn you guys get worked up. Why so serious?

Sharks have us outmatched in just about every position. I am expecting another drubbing. Hynes will run circles around us like he usually does. Probably a few soft tries to guys like Rudolf and Talakai. I would be very surprised if we concede less than 30 points.
I think majority of fans have the exact same opinion?

I think Canberra had all the possession in the first 15 mins which sucked the juice out of the middles. We improved a bit after interchanges. Need to start better.

Agree. Twal does his job.
He is a NRL quality version of Seyfarth.
Seyfarth should only be used if Twal is injured.
We shouldn’t have both on the bench, it’s the most boring non impact bench a team has.

$4.30, not even close to getting my wallet out Steve. You could add $10 to that and I’d still be looking for anything else to back. I’m sure there’s a horse out there that’s paying the ton.

I was thinking that if Api can’t stop the frolicking away from the game plan, maybe we should be trialling a new on field captain?

He is one of the best players in the game, but captains have to be a lot more.

I’d have to break the news to him with a sweetener or something. Get some intel on how he would take it.

I’d still parade him out for the press conferences. As players like the coverage.

Maybe we make Klem or Bateman a captain and get a better game out of them?

Over the years, I’ve learned we seem to drag things out such as Brooksy, Madge etc or we make rash decisions such as Bud, Lucy, Charlie etc.

We could warn Api that if there is any more nonsense, he’ stepping down, but he’s too senior and valuable a guy to insult.

Sezer?

We have to see the lads follow Benjis game plan before we can assess it.

Even if we are off to a horrific start, I still feel more hopeful than last year.

The boys almost killed us with the start last year.

I want Benji to think outside the box, not another year of slowly dying. We aren’t top 4, but we can use the year constructively. He’d probably agree.

I’m a big Api fan, but sometimes you need to make sacrifices.
