State of Origin 2026

Moses who has played 1 club game in the past 7 weeks

Cleary who needs injections before games

Bradman best who has played 1 club game in the past 8 weeks

Liam Martin who is returning from an injury and had a shocker on the weekend

I don’t see NSW coming close to QLD next week

If it makes you feel any better Laurie rung me for a run I said I have not played in over 40 years does that matter

He said no because your last game was a cracker at least he's picking on form

Anyone else here feel like NSW focus too much on selections instead of tactics?

Like, remember Laurie's last stint as coach when Gal and Farah would hog the ball year in year out but dine out on big stats they'd get? Daley always thinks NSW's best chance is by grafting with simple footy.

Doesn't matter who gets picked because the footy is going to be really rudimentary compared to QLD. NSW are going to get smashed.

I can't imagine guys like Cleary, Yeo, Haas, Critta and even Murray having 2-3 bad games in a row.

I don't know if they have a game plan but nsw has much better players. I have a feeling that class gets them across the line

But selections will do

I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that both Daley and Fittler go into the game with a game plan (a very shitty and basic one in my opinion) however the issue is that if they are not on top after 20mins then there is no other game plan or plan B,C,D for teams they coach. Game 1 was purely on the back of QLD losing Ponga and the scales tipping to NSW with home ground supporters lifting them. Otherwise we have been schooled by Slater in both games and its likely we will be again unless NSW players are so embarrassed they come out and actually play with some passion in spite of Daley and his shitty coaching.

Lloyd and Hugo are just there fir training purposes like AD was last year.

I am not a Daley fan however it is 1 game a piece
This is a much better nsw side without that pretender Staggs in the centres, he is a fraud of a footballer.

would have like to have seen brailey and Api in the hooking role but olakuatu bqck does help along with Crichton

I think nsw get the job done

Queensland have form, stability and home crowd advantage

QLD are rightful favourites and can’t see them slipping up, they are better when it counts

Lots of damage control recently in media and players supporting Daley...prese ting a united front.

LD doesnt exactly exude confidence to me.. so i often wonder if the players themselves honestly feel that... played used to working with bennett cleary etc

I also notice qld mention a hell of a lot their supporters and the people of qld... very little of this from nsw

Daley has told them its the last game he coaches for NSW so they have nothing to lose backing him. They know they don't have to get rid of him for next year.

Spot on, NSW just don’t get it and never really have. Every year everyone says that NSW have the best team on paper and look superior to QLD blah, blah, yet they rarely win because the tactics are usually all wrong for Origin.

QLD also have the edge emotionally and psychologically, they thrive on the underdog status and they pick players (oftentimes raw ones) who they know will play out of their skin for their state. Add that to the ad lib skills of players like Munster, Grant and Ponga and they can’t lose really, unless NSW finally decides to throw out the structures and stats and start to match them at their own game.
NSW certainly have the players who could do that, but I’m not sure they have the right mindset to implement it.

It is clearly obvious that Daley cant see past he's own nose .. by bring Galvin into the squad .. to be honest he's had an awful season so far .. !! All the talk and hype around him coming out of Gus' mouth is completely mad .. there are other 7's and 6's out there playing better than him this season.

In years to come i'd be surprised if he ever gets picked to play SOO .. there hasn't been any improvement in him at all this season from last season which the Dogs were hoping for.

The grudge that goes way back before origin to when Qlders who played for sydney clubs were selected for NSW...and they didnt like it

Yeah funny how it’s just continued on over the decades. Pretty sure it’s the same spirit driving them today. We’ve never learned to match them in motivation, imo. I never feel confident about NSW winning a game, let alone a series, in much the same way as I don’t ever feel confident about our own team winning each week.
