Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

How did the Knights turn things around within 1 year? They had a plan, brought experienced people onboard (Peter Sullivan, Justin Holbrook) and stuck with them.

How are the Dragons going to turn things around next year? They put a plan together, brought experienced recruiters (Daniel Anderson) and will stick with it.

It hurts to know we were doing the same thing and HBG blew things up.

We beat both those teams. And I distinctly remember the second time we played the knights it was a real disappointing afternoon because we should have and had expectations to win that .
My point is I look at next Sunday and don’t think “life sucks , we suck” but rather … “hey man we beat both those teams and are at least as good as them”.
This is a massive contrast to the last 3-4 years where I thought “shit how are we ever getting as good as these guys” .
We have the talent . We need to find a way to reduce injuries and manage the load of the team to reduce fatigue and performance drops . That’s where we fell apart . We need to figure out to raise the floor of these guys so that there’s not 8 games of 4 out of 10s but rather 2-3 games of 5/6 out of tens .
Thats on the performance staff . But we also saw last night , the best team probably since the late 90s broncos and before that St George , fall into a massive hole because thier 1.5mil man went down . We may not have a Cleary , but I’d say the cumulation of having 3-4 guys on the next tier down had the same effect .
This is going to to get exponential as well as the 3 teams come in and depth is reduced across the nrl.
I just refuse to wallow and pity. I’ve memory dumped most of this season . You take out the learnings ie. the talent is good , depth was surprisingly poor , and we issues maintaining across 27 rounds . Everything else is Individual based . Also AD can’t be in the halves if we want to win consistently.
We had similar "positives" after the 2025 season.
We have been trying to convince ourselves this narrative for years. We beat Penrith in Bathurst the year they won the comp... so what?
It ends up being much of the same shit, just a different year.
Who would have thought after 2025 we have a Galvin 2.0 Gate with Luai?
The question we should be asking is "What drama do we foresee derailing the 2027 season?"

Genuinely the worst administration in Australian sport

Blaming it all on HBG is a cop out. Sure they are partly to blame, but not solely. If the coach wasn’t a club legend, there is no way in the world he’d get the pass he does from some. Though, maybe HBG are solely to blame. It’s why we’re reduced to a coaching staff that make the Three Stooges look like astute scholars in comparison. No one who has any kind of a track record wants to work for them.

They have a knack of always making the wrong decisions for the club to improve

They have to be solely to blame dont they? They are the ones in charge, they are the ones who have been running the club for years. If you dont blame the ones in charge, who do you blame?

I don’t think it’s a cop out. They’re the ones that hire the GMs and CEOs that in turn hire the coaches.

Its not a cop out at all, infact, it requires more attention.

They sacked the board and pushed out the best ceo we have had in over a decade.

This was the trigger to everythjng that followed, including Luai not removing his clauses and having the ability to sign with PNG.

Richo had given Benji enough rope to hang himself; he was being held accountable.

This lot extended him for 5 years and didnt think to put in clauses about early termination.

Finding other excuses is the real cop out, because it all starts with the owners, their investments (lack of) and the implications of the decisions they have made.

The forum wants experienced leaders but not too old!! Biggest issue in 2026 was the drop from our best 13 to our backups.
Yeah, that would be ideal, trouble is that age group are in demand, looking for more money.

We need a few backups that's the issue, cap may not allow us to go after the optimum targets.

They are the only common denominator between 2012 and now.

Several coaches have come and gone, two of which went on to win five premierships between themselves. A few WT administrations have come and gone. A multitude of players have come and gone, many of those to win premierships.

HBG have failed to appoint a quality leadership team within the club who are responsible for appointing a quality coaching outfit who then are responsible for building and maintaining a quality roster.

It all starts at the top.

The Knights turn around involved the whole playing group in its decision making process with a massive grass roots push.

You can't be successful when you are operating with a factional board more interested in self preservation than the job at hand. And that's how this club has been functioning pretty much since it's inception. The onus for our failure is 💯 on the back of all those who have held a position of power and have failed at advancing the WTs and systematically damaged the club brand by doing so without any regard for the supporters who have stuck solid through all the rot.

Knights gonna struggle to keep their players with their rising stocks. Frizell will be a good get for a year and maybe club option, starting prop for a team in grad final and has had to carry the middle with current injuries.

Sandons stocks have risen sharply.

But even their depth like Fletcher Hunt and Thomas Cant are good players. Their forward depth is so good.
And Lachlan Crouch, a mobile prop.

I don't want to write off a bloke before he even signs here , but Kurt Mann to me has the odour of a Top 10 worst signing at the WTs

And that list has a glittering array of stars to beat
Why ? Do you know him? Have you trained with him ? Been on the field next to him? Jesus , he has played origin , is fit as hell, can play multiple roles, hits hard , loves to win and has played in multiple systems .. exactly the type of seasoned pro out young nrl team need to show them how to win in the trenches in tough games .. won’t break the damn bank, I really cannot fathom the whining and negativity on here ..
