2026 Rugby League World Cup fixtures - October/November

Wasn't sure as commentators were talking him up but scored zero points but understand playing in a bad team also šŸ¤”

Ive seen him since he was young. Very good player. Watched him play a Matts game and walked away thinking no way he is a future top liner though. Thats just one game though. The bits I have seen since he has some good moments but to me he looks a little rushed going to the line which is usually a sign they are a step below NRL level, and his kicking game is not big, but he has enough of a boot to work with and improve i guess.

If he ever plays NRL I think at best he would be a Jock Madden type level player.

It is scary to watch how good the Jillaroos are
It would be good to see them tested against top opposition. They are jam packed with talent and are superb front runners. Never seen this current iteration have to grind out a win or tough out a win under huge pressure.
They’ll go close to 100 again in this game.

I don't think there is a team on this planet that could test them
Maybe a Rest of the World side with the Aussies that didn't make the Jillaroos could keep them to under 30 pt win

It’s a shame, because their development as a group will inevitably slow down. There are aspects of the women’s game that haven’t developed at the same rate as others, and I genuinely believe a big part of that is because they haven’t been forced to.

When a player makes a line break, how often do we see her draw the fullback and pass to an unmarked teammate to guarantee the try, rather than back herself to score? How often are attacking kicks used to create opportunities? Face balls, cut-out passes and genuinely sophisticated attacking structures are few and far between. And the wingers haven’t developed the same aerial skills we see in the men’s game because they rarely need to. These aren’t necessarily deficiencies in the players themselves. They’re a product of the environment they’re playing in.
If individual brilliance and relatively basic attacking structures are enough to score tries, there’s less incentive to develop the creativity, decision-making and technical execution needed to break down quality defensive systems.
This won’t attract new fans and it’ll bore those already here.

Their is no comparison in the improvement between the NRLW and AFLW
The NRLW improvement has been massive
Your right about not getting tested .....you sort of saw that when you look at 86 Kangaroos to the 90 Kangaroos ....the Poms definitely improved , but the 90s Kangaroos went backwards

The men’s game had the same problem and the rise of the Pasific Nations brought a need to pivot. The size and aggression of them has meant that skill levels have had to evolve to compete. Non Polys have had to become more mobile, better ball players and their defensive capabilities have broadened.
Game play has also evolved. Counterpunching is prominant now more than it was. We are now seeing the ā€œbetter teamā€ lose more and more as the opposition made the most of their opportunities.
The mens game is getting better, as it needed to. I think the women’s game will plateau soon as currently there is no need for it to evolve.

In another 10 years there will be a difference. Considering grass roots for girls is really only starting to grow now.
While ever they still have to work jobs in the offseason it’ll be a long haul. Once a player plays rep at the end of the season you can see the development of strength, conditioning and general understanding levels rise the following year.
I personally think as a product it will get better and while it’s still on free to air they’ll grow the supporter base
