Agree. Would be awesome to have him on a cup contract and backup to first grade. Would be valuable for the up and comers. But can’t fault him for chasing the best deal for him.
Depends on the mix of other forwards. A lot of people have been crying out for an impact forward. Lesser minutes I can live with if he offers high impact on those minutes and our other forwards offer different body types with a couple being reliable, steady, good defence, high minute types...
I honestly think if we had even NRL average disciple (penalties, sin bins, 6 agains) we have maybe 7-8 wins.
I’d also like to think the games and experience we’ve got into some of the youngsters is a case of short time pain for some accelerated improvement.
If we can secure reasonable...
Gus’s MO seems to just be monitor the situation until a deal is close and then just try to swoop at the end. Also seems to target anything we are trying to do (eg: Ciraldo, Stef, etc). Bit of a grub but obviously relies on them being seen as preferable to us.
2 separate articles today about rumours of players wanting to move clubs (Mitchell Moses and Galvin) basically having no merit. Roosters denying they have even considered or spoken to Moses and Galvin basically saying it was fake news he ever wanted out.
Consistent factor in the 2 original...
Improving our discipline will help us take a stride in results as well. We are extremely poor in this regards and it definitely holds us back. Fatigue and sustained pressure probably plays a role in this.
The Mitchell Moses to Roosters rumour just doesn’t quite make sense to me. Firstly there’s the fact Politis and Isaac Moses don’t get on and supposedly Politis won’t do business with him.
Secondly the factor that Mitchell Moses will be 32 in 2027 when the move is supposedly due to take place...
Does anyone think we may have actually managed a signing or even 2, but they just can’t be announced as the player’s current team is in finals contention and they have requested we wait??
Possibly insanely deluded, but gotta hope right?
Really happy for Madge to get that series win. Despite not having much success with us, he could never be faulted for his efforts and passion.
Makes me think his style is best suited to a more elite environment, though, or a top end NRL team where his motivation seems to work putting the...
In terms of recruitment, is their any value in targeting a manager (a reasonable one reputation wise) and trying to get 2-3 players from their stable all at once? I know there is a danger of becoming beholden to a manager, but if it’s one we only have a few current players with, it might help...
I’m not sure about the truth of the various rumours but in terms of players wanting to be here, obviously you want commitment and passion and will to succeed. I’d like to see the club work hard on sitting with these players/managers/parents and turning around their feelings with a vision. If...
Why wouldn’t we try to use Papali’i as a piece for a player swap? If there is multiple club interest surely allows us to demand a key player in return to release a year early. Get it if they want him gone but got to make the most of these situations as well. Only reason not to is if we already...
Agree that surplus halves is definitely not an issue in the current halves (or lack of) market. Offers great depth (especially with a few young halves who will have ups and downs in form and miss games to injury). Offers terrific leverage for trades as there will always be clubs looking for...
I guess you could make an offer to 3 brothers that doesn’t include top 40 spots for all. 1 could be signed to a cup seal. Still allows them to “play together” (in the same club) if they were happy with that contract arrangement.
That scenario would be a fantastic deal for the Tigers in terms of salary cap hit. Would be surprised the Panthers couldn’t offer something similar though with TPDs if they can afford $850k on their cap and keep him though.
Not sure why people would complain about the Luai deal. Pretty accepted...
I’d say this would be an awesome problem to have. Can’t see any downside in having too many gun halves. You would have no problem trading a gun half as they are always in super high demand. Pick the ones you want to keep / who want to stay, and trade the other(s) for good recruits in other...
