I think the situation is still live. The longer he holds out the more $$$ he signs for. Remember it's for 2024, so he will be in no rush. I think if you were the player & agent you'd like it locked away before the season starts, just in case of significant injury, but apart from that, why...

I think Staines may fill the fullback jersey very well. From what little I've seen or read about him he appears to be more a fullback than winger. Look at how Mini went when he went from wing to the back.

I'd be looking at Blake Taaffe. He was pretty good in the few games he played as halfback. Off contract after 2023. He does seem like a good organising half!
