    John Bateman #268

He had a very poor game. Though he had bad moments for us, I don't remember him playing that badly. Particularly concerning was his defense. I remember him being a good defender, if not always a dominant tackler, but here he was targeted and exposed. Unplayable form.

    Wests Tigers' best ever signing?

Prince: we don't win a premiership without him. Was close with Ellis and hodgo, but just think prince was the most vital player in getting us a premiership.

Richo wanted to pay him. Stefano didn't want it. We got lucky and It worked out well for us but why we offered him such big dollars is a mystery. Even in a good Melbourne side he's not come out of his dreary form.

LIVE GAME Round 2 versus Eels

Great use of bench by Benji...for once. Got API in and out of the game really well and prop rotation was excellent, with maybe just pole being left on a little long in the first stint. TDS made darting runs just at the right time and API looked fresh all game. What a difference having wingers...

Wests Tigers Forum - Fan Age Poll

I know! Given the way we all act on here I thought the average age would be about 15.

How has Sullivan been playing for Souths? What position is he playing when he comes on?

    David Klemmer #264

Stating the obvious, but I think Bateman's post shows that things were very bad last year. No idea whose fault that is, but obviously Klem and Bateman were very unhappy...and it showed in their play. Papalii also very eager to get out. Were they the old jaded blokes having a whinge when...

Listening to the Barnett interview on fox and he is able to talk and answer questions. Nothing spectacular but just stringing sentences together. I wonder how much of a factor intelligence, or lack of it, has played in our play in recent years. None of our players can talk up until we got luai.

Interesting to see Cole be so peripheral in that one, I forgot they had a 5/8 for a while. MacLean obviously had a terrible game, but you can see why Penrith is excited about him...size and pace. Roosters playing with a bit more attacking threat seemed to suit Tedesco. He has so much energy.

TEAM LIST Team List Vs Parramatta (Round 2)

Yeah, I just think he's a solid workmanlike prop, but a very limited lock. No passing game or speed or game awareness. There's nothing in that offload that led to the try that is opened up by him playing lock, were essentially playing three props when he's in the 13. Our go forward and defense...

TEAM LIST Team List Vs Parramatta (Round 2)

Yep, I want Twal starting at prop though. There's nothing in his play that means he fits the lock role. I would prefer we had a faster more creative option at lock, we're too slow and clunky. Twal and May at prop with bird and fainu sharing the lock spot.

TEAM LIST Team List Vs Parramatta (Round 2)

I think Twal is a bad option at lock, I'd only play him at prop. In defense, he's a solid defender front on, but isn't that effective when he needs a bit of lateral movement and his line speed is not that great. In attack, he's very limited with one out hit ups and absolutely no passing. Props...

TEAM LIST Team List Vs Parramatta (Round 2)

I agree that Parra will struggle this year, but I've seen nothing in our play that says we should feel as confident as we do on here. I'll take the scrapiest hardest fought win if we get the two points. In attack I'm concerned all the new combinations will create clunky play. In defense, I...

    Alex Seyfarth #232

I just think he's too weak in the tackle, lacks pace and doesn't play high tempo and is a weak runner. Beside all that he does at least try hard, it's just still a bit weird that we bothered to sign him long term when he's probably below average compared to most second rowers in the league. In...

If Klemmer took the field for us round 1 vs knights, do we win?

No, but I actually think Bateman would have made a big difference. While not a dominant tackler, he is energetic, loves the tough stuff and has decent speed for a 2nd rower and has no trouble going 80 mins. Seyfarth is tired, slow, weak and uncoordinated. We really lacked a strong edge presence...

Wests Tigers - Defence - How to fix

Yeah, but you can only set up line speed with dominant tackles and far too often on tackle two or three we have defenders falling off tackles and opposition pushing through the tackle. You can't get line speed or do anything defensively if you don't have strength in the contact, particularly...

LIVE GAME Round 1 vs Knights

Biggest issue remains after 15 years: strength in the tackle. Simply, they roll over us in attack, while we get held up and knocked back. If teams are always on the back foot and scrambling you're going to get tired, no matter how fit you are. The knights absolutely dominated us physically...

    Army camp

I just think this sort of stuff is showing too much. I'd just keep it within the club. You want people to trust each other not worry about what's going to be plastered all over the internet. But I'll definitely watch it.

LIVE GAME Preseason Challenge v Eels

Three or four of those penalties seemed to be because parra pushed forward in the ruck and knocked one of our players to the ground. Another time it barely looked like the tackle was completed before a penalty was called. He was just too picky and both sides looked frustrated. I think we got a...
