Train and trial are usually built into a contract for say 4-6 weeks or longer, typically with a fixed amount to play KOE. Quite a few of these started either this week or last week.

If you read the post properly, you’d understand the difference between leaving and getting poached. For those unproven, they will stay and wait to get their opportunity when they have nowhere else to go, unless of course they think they’re “special”.

Agree totally. These 2 kids still have a lot to prove after Covid and injury. Unless they do something amazing over the off-season and/or in the trials, they have to earn their spot. They need time in KOE to not only learn but see if they’ve got it.

May have no bearing but Bill Young’s father (also Bill), played for Canterbury in the 60s (reserves I think).

Pretty much agree but if ever we were going to use them on our youth policy moving forward as touted, after Covid, there was never a better time to offer them to those coming through. I do get that they are hit and miss. I'd be looking at Ogden, Hill at least for 2023.
