There's the key word in your argument. Who's perception? I'm yet to see or hear any evidence that Benji is 'too close' to players. It's a myth perpetuated by a few downcast fans.

I think the club is in trouble if Api goes down. It could be argued this is one of the more important positions to fill. I would like the club to find a versatile player who can fill the spot for the short term at least. I still like Freddie Lussick as an option.
