    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Drive everyone mad, but that is literally the WHY to why I'd take him. We are custard soft at times. Hell, I'd double down. NAS, Tui & Jack Hetherington. When one or 2 get suspended, Seyfarth comes in. The Tigers went from easy beats to somewhat competitive. I'd like to take us to...

Hell, if we can possibly get Nelson, double down & get Tui as well. Forward pack revised.

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I would absolutely taking Nelson if he was an option. Ridiculous size, ridiculous amount of tackle breaks per game, ridiculous amount of offloads, tackles at 90% & averages 100m a game off the bench. Will he play 24 games a season? Probably not. But the impact on the field is something nobody...

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Freddy would be an astute pick up. Probably built for #13, can play #9 & HAS played every forward role for the dominant Warriors KOE squad. Last 2 years he had significant 1st grade exposure but this year stepped down & the KOE side is the best in it's grade. He's that tweener type- nearly...

Freddy Lussick, Zyon Maiu'u & Talakai would be the targets I'd look at. If they could fandangle Jack Hetherington....

Reflecting on the 2025 NRL Season

I'm notoriously a half-full guy, so this will no doubt get a few rolling eyes. 2025 was an improvement. I would argue at times significant. We really had 3 games where there was a significant score difference, which blew the F&A for us- R5 Broncos 46 Tigers 24, R10 Storm 64 Tigers 0, R21...

    OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Actually- did a little digging. In 2019, when he first played significant time, his win percentage was 54%. 2020 up to 87%, 2021 up to 92% & 2022 up to 95%. In 2023 it dropped to 77% & increased in 2024 to 79%. So, those 2 years aside, his win ratio increases the longer he plays...

    OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

I'd be curious to see if his Penrith win strike rate increased the longer he played. It could then be argued that we are in the infancy stages at the Tigers. Samoa would have been coming from a low start base too. What percentage increase in success have they had since he's been in the squad...

Additionally- Maiu'u signed a 2 year deal with the Bulldogs, so unless you are extending the deal, it's a 1 year 'prove it' contract for a 22 year old athlete with well acknowledged ability. As many have said- there's not a 'lot' available. Here's one. And he isn't stopping the club from...

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I'd still look at Zyon Maiu'u as that impact middle. Pick him up, he offers versatility between middle & the edge, runs hard & has that 'impact' in his style- he's not a plodder, he's more a Royce Hunt type. Thing is- you play him in KOE. If it doesn't work out- you don't lose much. But if he...

    OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

I have to imagine that a settled spine, more go forward & better strike out wide- practiced together over the off season- should smooth things out. I wonder how much Luai's 'better play' has actually coincided with Taylan May's 1st grade play? It also seems that Samuela almost broke out of his...

In fact, Yeoh in 2024 & May in 2025 are remarkably similar stat lines. But May offloads more.

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The only similarity between May & Haas is minutes on the field. I've started thinking of Terrell May more in terms of Yeoh. Hit-ups, but just as likely to be a ball player at the line. It's up to guys like Sione, Pole, Hunt to get the impact running metres. Twal is the classic working prop...

    OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

As always- I find myself agreeing with a lot of what you say. Thing is with Luai, he is (likely) fairly responsible for the quality of the recruitment. Players want to play with good players. The May's for sure. Is his PLAY worth $1m? Probably not. Is his effect worth $1m? I'd argue it is.
  17. The Chad

    OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Thing is- if it's not Jerome that has made these changes to the club- the better results, the greater commitment on the field etc- where does it come from? Benji? Hodgo? Turuva? Who or what is responsible for our greater competitiveness in 2025?
  18. The Chad

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Before we all start depressed prior to KPP even arriving- what we need is for him to be a better option than Bird or Seyfarth have been. I think he starts way above that line already. So unless he regresses, he's an upgrade to the starting squad, and therefore the depth is stronger. Adding in...

    Alex Twal

Royce is a different beast though. You don't get the same play from him. We need more than 1 hitup in 15 minutes. But, what he did the last few rounds is fine- that's what you get. He needs a wreckingball partner, or a hardhead, no nonsense aggressive beast to turn the momentum in games. Pole...
  20. The Chad

    Alex Twal

I think having Terrell May playing a similar role- big minutes, efficient tackling etc, took some of the workload off Alex. Seemed to play faster this year- not bogged down in slogging it up. He's a good player. For years he has lead our defensive line speed.
