LIVE GAME Round 6 v Knights

I think Galvin has still got a school boy mentality. He often runs when he should pass, tried to pass miracle balls and he seems rushed his short kicks. When he takes his time and picks his moment, he looks so much better

    3-2-1 3 2 1 vs Knights

3 - May (another ridiculous effort) 2 - Bula (Learning how good he is) 1 - Sione Fainu (quality runs)

LIVE GAME Round 6 v Knights

It was a bludger of a game. I think we were guilty of the same thing. I do believe the team is looking a lot better in attack since then and am quietly confident of win - if not the start of a bit of a winning streak 🤞

TEAM LIST Round 6 vs Knights

Fairly evenly matched teams. Their back 5 probably has an edge over ours but I rate our halves more. Forwards look pretty even as well. I think our bench looks to have more impact. Us to win (but not by many).

    3-2-1 3, 2, 1 vs the donkeys

3 - Douiehi 2 - Sukkar 1 - May I’d like to see AD do some more play making as an option especially near the line. Really impressed with Sukkar. Great defensive effort and made some telling one on one tackles and ran the ball strongly - hope he continues his development. Terrell - just rinse and...

OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

The problem with that is that Lachie will play a lot of first receiver at 13 and he doesn’t play direct enough for that (yet). Not sure where he plays but at the moment, his best setup plays has been when he is wide of the ruck and can isolate players.

    Latu Fainu #282

I think last week and this week had shown that Galvin is more effective wider of the ruck. I like Latu as first receiver as he plays much more direct than Lachie - which provides Lachie the space to do his thing (also think Luai is better wider as well). We should figure out a way to include...

    NRL Refs

There should be a stat on ratio of wins per ref per team - only trouble from a Tigers point of view is that it would show every ref hated us 😊

LIVE GAME Round 4 v Warriors

1 - Like most, I am disappointed with the loss but generally impressed with the improved resilience. 2 - Thought the referee had too much influence in the outcome (my pet hate). 3 - Terrell May is an absolute machine. Quality for 80 minutes from a front row forward 4 - Galvin does lots of...

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I think that is fair given his time out of the game and his history. No doubt he will get a top 30 gig elsewhere but am content that Tigers maintain their standards and approach.

OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I think it showed that he is more effective playing a little wider of the ruck at the moment. He doesn’t need to touch the ball 5 times a set. Just pick his times to inject himself when he sees an opportunity. In the To’a/Turuva movement, it was actually Api who played the pivot role and got...

    Coach Benji

I like the discipline in defence. Less rushing out (although Toa did that for the Phins first try) and much better initial first contact. While line speed could be better, I have noticed we have fixed many issues when defending on our goal line.

    Credit where it's Doueihi...

I didn’t think we lost much between AD and Jeral in terms of set restarts. If Jeral is out next week, I think I would prefer to keep AD at wing and either bring in another centre or move Jack Bird to centre and bring up bench player to fill in at lock etc. Is that likely to be Tim Johannson?

OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I think Galvin plays with a lot of noise in his head and that leads to poor decision making and execution. Benji needs to provide him with a simpler plan for him to execute. I still think once he learns that this isn’t junior football anymore and that at his development stage, less can...

LIVE GAME Round 1 vs Knights

Our long kicking game was poor. Too many times they started their sets beyond the 20. Luai and Galvin don’t have the kicking distance - I would use Doueihi if possibe to get the ball down the other end

    WT v Knights round 1 ‘25 predictions

That kind of makes it easy for Benji. For mine, Tristan Hope has outshone TDS by some distance in the trials. It also probably means Latu to 14.

    1st trial thoughts?

I call Lobb ‘Queen Mary” as that’s how long it takes him to turn and chase! Personally, I would have Galvin watch a thousand tapes of Terry Lamb. Baa wasn’t blessed with great skill like Brett Kenny but he reinvented the idea of support play. If Galvin is as super fit as they say, he should...

LIVE GAME Preseason Challenge v Canterbury

I thought our defensive structures were ok but our scramble was very good. We defended their block plays quite well apart from a couple of bad decisions. For me defence is about attitude and I thought our effort was good. Real concern was our attack, particularly in their red zone. In the first...

    Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I agree but also attitude is important and that speaks to the way it is coached. In my opinion, while the systems etc are important, the top teams also have the defensive mindset that gives them the resilience to defend when the chips are down. Teams like Penrith and Storm actually put doubts...
