Agree. Ability is massive - but for whatever reason is deprioritised as the key element determining selection. Fitness can be raised. Look, there are lots of fit people. It doesn't make them all capable of doing the job. All trees are green. But not all green things are trees.

A dozen? By my count it’s 6 or 7. Luai, Api, Terrel, Turuva. You could arguably count Bula, Pole and Sam Fainu. The rest haven’t proven at all that they should be anywhere but reserve grade.

And that’s a stretch. Practically 10 of our first 17 would be in most team’s reserve grade! We will only ever be a top 8 team with a top 8 roster. Maybe hooker, one front rower, one winger and one half are covered. That’s all. We should be looking to upgrade everywhere else.

Problem is we don’t have anyone in our ranks. Need a bucketload of recruitment.

Yes the rest of the team are bog average. But Luai hasn’t contributed anything individually at WT to warrant any praise.

The coaching is not visible at all. But Jack Gibson himself wouldn’t be able to magically make most of these players first graders.
