Think Schuster at this stage is a "nice if it comes off", rather than being able to count on him to provide anything in the way of actual depth at the moment.

I actually think Bula's ball playing has been slightly better the last couple of weeks too in terms of decision making and execution. Long way to go but it's clearly something Benji wants to develop in him.

I shudder to think how our middle holds up against the better sides with Doueihi there.

Not much on the market and sounds like the kids are a few years off so I think we have to try it with Doueihi. If we are genuinely pursuing Mann that would tell you how Benji sees it.

I agree the question is whether Doueihi is suited to that role. A lot of the best teams have the smaller, more dynamic type in the position. Murray, Cotter, Watson types. Doueihi doesn't exactly fit that mould. Kinda wish we persisted with Kit Lauli'li there... Yet another we have done a disservice.

I agree with you but Doueihi ball plays better than Twal/Seyfarth who are there at the moment. Problem is what you gain in attack does not make up for what you lose defensively with those guys who are maximum effort and do a lot of clean up work. Doueihi's place, if he is still here next year...

Seems like there are annual links to Frizell. He and his family seem very established in Newy, would be hard to get him out. Probably adds more on and off the field than Afoa. Although these types of signings don't tend to work out very well for us.

Has it been fair? no, is it sustainable? no idea. However, and it sounds like i'm in a minority here, I think it will provide a pretty cool and unique spectacle. If done properly there is also plenty of talent to tap in to there.

I don't follow AFL closely. What % of top draft players actually hang around at their clubs after their initial contract finishes? We at the Tigers have a problem of debuting these talented guys, giving them game time, then they move on to "bigger" clubs. How would this be solved by a draft?
