My take on him is that he has been behind a terrible pack his whole career. We don't yet know how good he would or won't be playing behind a strong one. But I see no reason why he would not be successful if he had that opportunity.
2021 fox stats had Brooks equal with Hughes for try assists. Though from memory I think he played a couple extra games.
But still, if he can match Hughes for TAs when playing at the Tigers, how many would he have got at the Storm
We've been a pretty poor side for the entirely of Brooks' career. Yet during that time our attack is typically ranked middle of the table whereas our defence is typically ranked amongst the bottom few teams on the table. (Can't be bothered getting the exact rankings but they are easy to find for...
Yep. And zero recruitment since Madge. It seems the club has already written off 2023. So why not give Madge that year rather than pay him out. It would have given him this whole World Cup to try to recruit some of his Kiwis. Then if Sheens still wanted to take his job he could have in 2024 anyways.
I've no faith in Sheens and Marshall but the only person saying our season will be based on attack is paws.
The actual coaches haven't told us anything about what they plan to do.
Well, except that the players they see leading us forward are kids, still years away from first grade.
Just watched his tries on debut. He certainly didn't show any pace in any of them. Not a winger in the game that wouldnt have scored them.
I'm not saying he definitely isn't quick, just that I'm yet to see it.
I remember that also. I watched again before commenting as I was going to add that...
have we ever seen Staines alleged pace? I believe he is quick off the mark but i am yet to be convinced he is 'genuinely quick'. I can't recall any runaway tries or great come from behind tackles in his career thus far.
They've both put plenty of good kicks in. Yes, Moses has put in a few more but his team also consistently give him more field position, time and space to work with.
Their kicking games in comparable situations is about even.
Attack has not been our problem at all. Our biggest problem has been our defence (though this year it was both).
The previous 3 years we have been ranked 9th/8th/9th in attack and 15th/12th/11th in defence.
Given poor defence not only results in points conceded but also less attacking...
Doubtful. This time the last few years there has been talk about how there will be movement come November first. There rarely is. Last year was an anomaly as the Dolphins created a seller's market for players. Even then the large majority of players who signed early re-signed with their club...
he was shit this year.
Last year i thought he was decent. He is no world beater, but he is as good or better than any other options we are likely to get.
I tend to agree with his detractors that Brooks' 2018 season means little now. But, i do think it is worth noting in that same season Moses...
it didnt take him more games. Brooks' season total for kicks dead and kicks out on the full was 2 and 2. In that one game Moses kicked out on the full twice (equalling Brooks' season total) and kicked dead once (one short of Brooks' season total).
For me this point highlight two things. One that...
