In relation to recruitment, we need to be patient. Players always become available at the end of the season once clubs want to re-jig their rosters, coaches get sacked etc. Every year there are about 10-15 players who are under contract who become available eg. Terrell May, Gutho, Val, AFB etc...

Would have to be AD, Seyfarth and Twal. Not many others were there at the time. Bula, Sione and Pole were only just making their way into the NRL squad in Pascoe and Lee's last year and Api was only under them for a year. Everyone else in the 17 arrived after they left.

The key to upgrading our depth is buying first graders. That way, guys like Seyfarth, Twal, Sukkar, Doueihi etc become depth players rather than starters. A good example is our outside backs. Staines, Naden and Faataape were once starters and are now fighting for first in line call ups.

I know it wasnt the point of your post, but you cannot front load an entire years salary to the year before. There is a limit under the CBA, but is also subject to minimum wage laws etc. In addition, players and agents wont allow contracts to be heavily front loaded as it causes taxation issues...
