When I spoke with Sheensy before the season started in '23, he said Ashton could play in the halves as easily as hooker. The reason he was playing 9 was because he really enjoyed the collisions! Each to their own I guess.
I'm not sure about that. Des has a bit of a history of taking over a team and then that team taking a while to get it together. But they eventually do and then start playing some decent footy. Same happened with his last stint at Manly. I thought the Titans played pretty decently on Sunday.
It is hard not to start telling yourself "here we go again. A couple of good wins followed by 2 couple of months of crap". Anyway, I'm not quite giving up on them this year, but another 2 losses on the trot and the season is well and truly in jeopardy.
I do hope you are right. Very important game in my mind. To see how we bounce back after last weeks loss. Another loss to the Saints will have me very nervous about our future prospects this year.
"Golden Boots" Barnes. A true legend not only of Balmain, but of the game itself. Peerless in his countenance on and off the field. I believe he only ever gave away a single penalty in his entire career! The greatest 'toe poker' ever. Even the great Len Killeen wasn't in his league.
Vale...
I don't think we played good footy on Monday. The effort was immense and the will to win terrific. But if we make the same number of errors and give away as many penalties, we'll be in all sorts with the 'heavy legs' these guys are going to have.
Not confident. Too many years of seeing our guys put in one great performance and then revert to default program. Hope I am wrong about it. Would love to see the Eels get done at home by the mighty Tigers
