He looked very confident for a debutant and grew into the game in the second half. If you didn’t know you would have thought he had played at least a few games in the NRL. The athleticism for someone his size is what excites me. He moved really well close to the line.
I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t grow into quite a good player.
I thought it was a good first up effort. Defence was better organised, foundations looked solid. Team looked very well drilled and actually following a plan. New players fitted in well. Josh Aloiai was sensational. If he can do that every week it’s a massive bonus for us. For the most part I was just happy we played to the conditions and grounded out the win. B+
Benji kicking on the third on a wet track may have been the coaches instructions. We did dominate field position, kept turning their forwards around and our line speed in defence was solid for the whole game.
I would rather give them a week or two in these early rounds rather then playing with niggles and injuries and be out for extended periods. Mbye hurts loosing a ball player as Thompson is still learning how to pass but Matterson will take a bit of pressure of Benji so will ET.
Anything is possible. Certainly family issues springing up would be a big thing needing to be addressed. Still even if he wanted to stay in Oz there would be plenty of time to take up new contract for next season if given enough notice and some assurity of WT $$$ into the negotiating pot.
I forgot to mention in the main thread, how enthusiastic our players are,the difference in on field attitude and the stability within this new squad ….Ivan really seems to be a man manager as well as a great coach…
I honestly reckon that if we did lose yesterday, the team would not have hung their heads as in previous years, they would find a way of doing things better, not just going through the motions as we have seen many times before…I’m liking what I’m seeing this year…totally different from other years…
