Field goal when already 2 points up is absurd. The short kickoff is a 50/50 contest, so why present that opportunity to the opposition?
Game management is harshly judged at times. Try closing a game out when your forwards are getting bashed the way our were. Very difficult. I judge game management when our forwards either win the ruck or at least compete. Last night we didn’t get close to Newcastles pack. Very hard for Benji or Brooks to manage the failures of our pigs.
Yeah I agree (tho I don’t know what the fish n chips bit means lol) Unfortunately, injuries mean that he has to start. Hopefully Lawrence is back next week and Josh back on the bench.
I also think Grant or Felise would be a better option off the bench rather than Sue while Packer is out. Both offer more, Sue is too up and down during matches, imo. Grant was playing pretty well very early on, don’t know why he is out of favour, though funnily enough I think he was out of favour at Penrith when Ivan was coach there also.
The defence as a whole was ordinary last night. No line speed, knights made easy metres and had time to isolate edge defenders.
Think some of the selections also had an impact on this. Taylor should have started on the edge returning from injury with Aloiai in the middle. Better still Grant starts in the front row, Aloiai on bench & Eisenhuth at lock.
Sue is not a first grade front rower, let him go at the end of the year.
im mostly curious for future references not this game tbh, hence it needs to be looked in detail
Agree with this don’t think it cost us the game but I am interested what the actual rules are and am surprised they are not clearly outlined anywhere publicly available. How are people meant to talk the game up if they can’t find simple information.
Honestly no I don’t think the side are ahead of themselves. You just can’t keep up the intensity we’ve had for every game in 24 rounds, just not possible.
Winning 5/6 is terrific; dropping a game by 2 pts and not playing well is inevitable… the upside is we only lost by 2 and were in the game the whole 80. What we really don’t want is any blowouts, that will be the making of our season if we are in 100% of games for 80 mins and win more than half.
Common sense has no place around here. Don’t you know that?
So are you telling me you should trust the system, but if there is a breakdown in the system, you should still trust it?
It he stays on his man they would have still scored. When you’re Nofa, you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
You have a point, if the system is for everyone to come in then yes, not his fault.
What I am saying though is he doesn’t really come in or stay out, he goes to the no-mans-land. Frankly with Nofo, he’s damned if he doesn’t and damned if he still also doesn’t, because it’s mostly doesn’t.
