In regards to Origin, there was only a few penalties and look how great that game was.
The officials don’t want to wreck Origin but they are willing to kill NRL games.
I don’t see the logic.
It’s all about money. There is so much money return through television, advertising etc that the NRL don’t want to ruin the spectacle. As far as sin binning of players from struggling clubs such as Wests Tigers the referees’ attitude is “who cares”.
I’d like to defend Brooks decision making in that kick. The execution let him down there not the idea.
Given how irate Brooks looked as soon as he looked up, I cant help but think he may have called a play and somebody didn’t respond. I could be way off the mark and he simply screwed up, but it’s hard to imagine he hadn’t told someone what he was planning.
I agree as I mentioned there was a play intended, but in that exact moment no one seemed to be on the same page, as our whole defensive line was broken. It is however the halfbacks job to organise the team for that play but how obvious can he be. And by running to the blind away from the team he wouldn’t of had the best view of team to his right. I think he was initially going to kick it into the corner but Cronulla countered that by the chase from marker and the positioning of the backs, there was no space to kick to. Maybe Reynolds should have got the ball instead. They’ll get better at those things. We are the only team in around the 8 who hasn’t had a consitiant spine all year. That would be leading to the breakdown of such plays and our lack of ability to capitalize on them.
Twal Hardest I’ve seen him run
Mats defence was outstanding tonight
Rowdy always solid all-round
Yeah, as mine for the same reasons. I also note that the prop’s work included the ten minutes that MCK was binned, which made it harder. Was also surprised when Chris was replaced by Grant rather than Taylor when he limped off, as Aloiai is disappointingly just not cutting it and again proved lacking.
I named him in the front row for next week, but actually think he should be playing 80 at 13. He played 80 every week in reserve grade and always made 50+ tackles. He is a machine. He will lback up the middle for 80 at lock. We just need to find 2 front rowers to go with him.
I agree with Russell,s opinion of Liddle and see him as our long term Hooker. However I would prefer he did not play at all and tried to maintain some sort of fitness in other ways off the field until his sternum is healed. We have to look for some other solution now as it appears this could be quite some time.
I am not angry anymore. The boys did their best today and have been doing so all year. Put it simply the team we are fielding is just not up to top 8 standard. The last 5-6 we have been playing like a bottom 4 team. They have tried no de Yi v that. You can ask each player that. They are just not good enough. We will a few more games this year. But unless there is change to the roster. We should be happy if we finish 10-12. That’s it! No more expectations, these are the facts and should be be upset anymore as a result now that I accept this. Welll done team you are trying your best….you can’t help it that you are not good enough to play finals. Let’s just enjoy any good wins that come in 2018.
I think you are right wildcat. however team selections need to improve as best players are not getting picked each week. cleary obviously has his favourites and picks them irrespecyive of performance,eg Chee Kam,Taylor,Lolohia. Lolohia is at best ISP level while Chee Kam is a park footballer. Taylor is not a hooker and can’t pass left to right. A good tackler but not a hooker.
After this week we have 2 very winnable games (raiders and titans) then the bye. A big effort this week to cause an upset could set us up for a good 4 weeks. At the risk of being ridiculed …… I think this week is a clutch game. We lose - we lose touch with top 8. We win- could go on a run and climb the ladder.
Nothing to be ridiculed about there. You’re right - Raiders and Titans very winnable (IF we play the footy we know we can!) The Sharks game - and every game for that matter - is important with the ladder so close. Look at our losses and only the Eels game stands out as one we were never really in. In other words, the Tigers beat themselves more than other teams beat them. A few have been influenced by the whistle blowers and most losses have been very tight.
Ivan just has to get rid of some of the brain explosions, poor reads etc and we’d be higher up. We certainly have the talent, perhaps needing Mbye ASAP to add some spark.
Now Reynolds is firing, I can still see a top 8 spot (good enough for our first season of new players) but the crap plays have to be eliminated.
Totally agree. Improve our ball control and we win those tight games.
