Other than this incident I dont recall anything else in the game, rarely noticed the refs, didnt think they were that bad
I have to agree really don’t think they were that bad. That was a bad call, everything else seemed fair to me. We even got lucky with a couple of calls.
Yeah…agreed, I thought we got very lucky with Eisenhuths dive
For mine that was a try. He dived into Wallace after he realised he was beaten.
Yeah it was the same with Luke Lewis’ try Austin grabbed Wade Graham and ruined the try of the year.
Archer has taken common sense out of the game,
It’s not a game that can be refed from a rule book.
As for yesterday we gave away some dumb penalties, I did think that Penrith had a small 10 meters, that’s where we need Cam Smith to go and get the refs to do it his way.
Some really good kicks? Brooks is the bloke who was playing 7 for us today.
He put in some great kicks. There was the bomb that Tedesco chased and Edwards knocked on and there were plenty close to as good as that.
Compare him to Cleary today who is highly rated. He was just as good around the park if not better. Cleary’s goal kicking was better but that was it.
Please post here the exact time on the clock where Brooks put in a good kick.
Because I made a point to comment on every kick Brooks put in today on this live thread, and I don’t recall any that I’d consider good. I seriously doubt if some people actually watch the game before commenting on here fair dinkim.
At 6:20 pm he kicked the soap into Twal’s falafel’s.
Does any anyone remember the badges first game he reffed??
His first was the game against Melbourne when that scumbag Williams king hit buckets….ever since that day I’ve loathed the purple Wayne kerrs.
Also a good example of just the way the new team notices were meant to perform, as a player of such note can have a big influence on people’s decision making. Not that I gamble nor like it being such a big part of the game.
It’s interesting that Ava is obviously down the list of props at this point. I reckon he is a quality first grader. It shows how much better our depth is looking now and I think it will be better next year.
I want to see Aloiai in the team because I think he has more impact than all of our forwards when he is playing well.
You can’t though really knock that team. Sue and Twal are pretty good bench prop forwards. Sue is inconsistent but he did the job last week. MCK is another inconsistent player who is full of mistakes but if he holds the ball and doesn’t make mistakes he is a good edge player. JLJ ideally shouldn’t be there but I get it. McIlwrick has troubles playing 80 minutes and having JLJ gives the coaching staff another option.
I wonder how we’d go without Woods. I honestly think we might even go better.
I don’t - not this year.
Which prop you think will go better than Woods?
Yeah! I’d also be interested to know which prop instead of Woods, Earl?
It’s not as simple as replacing Woods with a better player. Woods has really slow hit-ups, ordinary defence and slow play the balls.
Ava, Grant, Sue, Twal, Aloiai all hit the ball up better and play the ball better than Woods. Woods only saving grace is his motor and his offloads. Basically all of those players have better defence than Woods.
That is why I stated I think we might go better as a team with Woods out and replaced by one of our other prop options. If Woods gets offloads I have this wrong. If he doesn’t I think I have this right. He rarely has a great game where his offloads are working. When he does it can win us games. When he doesn’t he doesn’t do his job well at all.
Today clearly showed that I have this right. Next week it might be different if Woods offloads the footy.
I dont know what you guys saw but i didnt see that as a try
No replays clearly showed the ball on or over the line and the one shot shot showed Jt’s fingers underneath
I was extremely surprised it was given, never the less i was happy for Teddy and the team.
LTWT if you go to NRL.com and look at the referees review they show a close up of Teddy’s try and it clearly shows the ball on the line by a fair way before Thurston lifts the ball up.
This close up was not screened on an TV replays but it show the Bunkers call is correct.
It looks like they have the ability to enlarge the picture, I don’t know why they didn’t show this enlargement on TV.
On the topic of Defence: Moses was a mad man, tackling anything that moved. Brook sitting on the side line should have taken some notes
He’s been very tenacious, especially tackling the big fellas low. I just worry about him getting a head knock. we would have been in trouble without him.
I love the fact he goes in to make a tackle worry free. He is not scared regardless the size of the opponen.
Brooks on the other hand “seems” to think about self preservation and most times has a reserved effort.
Do i blame him ? NO. But then again its a professional contact sport and he needs to find a way around his nervous attempts .
I still remember voices around me when playing cricket, if you are scared the ball WILL hit you.
Same with taking high catches, it will hurt if you think about it and attempt the catch with poor technique
He was much improved at DH, and very good in general.
That tackle was emblematic of the improved attitude we’ve displayed over the last couple of months - the scrambling defence has been tremendous. Was a bad miss by Simona initially, but Rankin didn’t give up on the play for a second and potentially saved the game for us.
