10-3 after 15 rounds is near on necessary

After 13 games and 2 byes, i think this is where we should be at if we are going to factor in the playoffs. And its crucial for a top 4 finish if that possible.

Games like Canberra x2, Warriors, Knights, and Souths can no longer be hick-ups. Win those and we only need to go 3-2 against the likes of the Dogs x2, Roosters (2nd game), Panthers and Cowboys.

10-3 is super achievable and would mean being on 24 points after 15 rounds. Our run home is tougher so we need the runs on the board.

sounds good in theory but winning in canberra and townsville are harder then any other places to win ill be happy if we are 8-5 going into the back half of the season

With a team like the Tigers, if we make the 8, we are good enough to win the Premiership. On our day, we can razzle daxzzle any team in the comp including Melbourne. Last year showd us winning 50% and a positive for and against is no longer enough. In saying this, winning 50% is the catalyst to being contenders…

I think the key is being 3 from the first 6 rounds. Most teams dont hit there straps until round 6-8 and the real contenders will start to make a move at this point.

Follow this with winning either side of our bye's will give us technically 12 points and strong momentum. This is when the Liechhardt factor can play into our hands against teams like the Cowboys and Melbourne. We got them both last year at Liechhardt. Once the byes are over, still maintaining a 50% win record I think will see the Tigers finish in the Top 6.

The run home is gona be harder than previous years, but going into the finals with positive momentum is good thing to have...

What we do have in our favour this season is:

No away game in Melbourne
No away game in Auckland
Only play Brisbane once (even if they are not as good as previous years i would rather play them once rather than twice -they still have some quality players who have the wood over us)
Play Canberra in Canberra early, during the day not at night in the middle of winter
Only play Dragons once

All in all that is a good draw and works definately in our favour.

While 10 - 3 would be lovely, and i suppose it's possible but not probable, i would be happy with 8 - 5\. That ould put us on 20 points with ten rounds to play, and all home games at traditional grounds.

But let's get back to the reality - one match at a time.

wests tigers thrive in semi final football. We are essentially a semi final football team but our problem is getting there.

If we go 10-3 i'll be stoked! If we go 8-5 i'll quite content. I do agree that if we're to be a serious contender this year we're going to need something within the region of 15 wins by the end of the season. We'll win some of those games at the back of the season. The key will to play well at home (currently 2-0) and jag an away win every so often (currently 0-1).

10-3 would be a dream come true but it is pretty much as far from necessary as any combinations of wins and losses.

Seriously, just because a 50% win rate wasn't good enough last year, there is nothing yet to show whether or not it will be good enough this year.

Teams have come back from very bad records in the first half of the season to make the finals, just like teams have had very good records and then had the wheels fall off.

why i think 8-5 would be good is for 1) the opposition we would have faced and 2) we play raiders and cowboys away which are tough road trips anything ober 8-5 ill be stoked anything less then that ill be dissapointed

7-6 with a good f/a is a pass in my opinion. From there, 6-5 will get you a top 8 spot, whereas 8-3 gives you a top 4 spot and all kinds of momentum.

If we are 7/6 against teams in the first 13 games then we arent going to do 6-5 against whats to come in the run home.

What makes you so sure? Look at how the end of last season played out. The Dragons looked unbeatable all year then got the death wobbles. Melbourne looked a little shakey. It can happen. Injuries can happen, what if these top teams lose key players towards the back end of the season? If we go 10-3 then dribble it in from there, we'll be cannon fodder in the finals anyway. If we are in around 5th-6th spot after 15 rounds, I'll be happy.

I cant be sure….but we can have wobbles too. We can have injuries too. We need to beat the teams we should beat this year or else we will leave ourselves too much to do at the back end of the season.....again! 10-3 is a stretch....but if we arent at bare minimum 8-5 then i dont see us being any better than 9th.....again.

Wouldn't it be great to sit comfortably in the top 8 all season. Packed houses at Leichhardt and Campbelltown in the run home.
That's all I wish for.

Dreams are made of this mate! Even in 2005 we werent certain starters in the top 8 till about 4 rounds out. we then lost 2 of the final 3  If we beat the teams we should beat on paper, we will never be out of the top 8 all year.

10-3 would be great but things happen. Injuries, form, Playing a side whose desperate, tough road trips etc.

As someone else said, if we are 7-6 then I too would be happy. I dont think we a re a premiership winning team, but I think we are a team who if we get to the finals and hit form could do anything.

So id be more than happy with 7-6\. I dont want to get ahead of myself after 3 rounds. They are all winninable games and they are all looseable games. If you take out melbourne in melbourne etc, I think where a good chance of winning and loosing every game. Theres not a game in those first 13 games that I dont think we have a chance in. Loosing to Canberra in canberra, NQ in NQ is easy, and to count Souths as a should win game is riiculous.

Souths are horrible. If we cant beat them this year, assuming we dont have a bad run of injuries before then, ill give it away for good. Sick of loosing games we should win.
