Hello All,
not sure if this has been opened but the team will be very different next year with
McKinnon, Gibbs, Fifita, Brown, Utai any others??
I am not sure if Utai is staying.
What about Fulton, Moltz??

Blair looks to be coming in…who else??
Cheers

Utai isn't signed yet but that may change , however even without him

Moltzen
Ryan
Ayshford
Lawrence
Tuqiri
Marshall
Lui
Hieghno
Ellis
Dwyer
Galloway
Farah
Woods

Fulton
Schirnack
Groat or Begovich
Simona

Still a great looking side especially if you add Blair in

Probably our depth will suffer a little next year but that happens with the cap and we have some great juniors in our 20s at the moment - Simona, Koribete, Miller, Groat, begovich, Politini , Spence and Mullaney and Hyland who graduated last year

thi is what we need

1\. New fullback, let moltzen go if we are keeping Lui at halfback, he's no fullback
2\. New winger, Ryan is ok at best
3\. Ayshford
4 Lawrence
5\. Tuqiri
6\. Marshall
7\. Lui
8\. Galloway
9\. Farah
10 Woods
11\. Dwyer
12\. Ellis
13 Hieghington
14\. Fulton
15\. BMM
16\. Groat
17\. A back, who cares will only come on at 70min anyway with sheens

As for Blair, i wish we wouldnt bother, a new fullback and winger would make a much bigger difference. We also have decent depth in both forwards and back for injuries already at club, just not players that should be top 17 week in week out. Its just some better starting back we really need.

Widdop signed mid May for two more years with a one year option, I believe.

We have plenty of home grown talent to fill that. Remember, McKinnon was only signed to fill the hole that Moltzen left when he was injured anyway.

Another quality forward (Blair) and outside back (?) is what we need.

Can't afford to have too much of the cap on the bench - i think this is the root cause of some of the changes that are being made this year. Downsizing the bench allows us the strengthen our starting list.

Go with two up and coming props (BMM/ Groat/Begovich), a solid utility that has plenty of upside (Moltzen) and two goer backrowers (Fulton/Shirnack).

We will get plenty of minutes from Blair and he can play tight like Gallen. Maybe he plays second row and Dwyer drops back to bench or moves into prop and Woods drops back to bench.

Swordy, just don't think Moltzen is the world class outside back that we need to help complete our list. He may get there but it is too big a risk to head into 2012 with.

I love Moltzen but i reckon he has cost us games playing fullback. It is such an important position in the modern game. We have paid dearly for not having a 1 these past few years, just as we paid the price for not having a 7 for many years (not to mention the pain and anguish of having to watch Johnny Morris play week in week out).

Reading marathon stadium and checking people who had resigned and who's off contract and someone wrote that Mitch Brown might be moving back to Cronulla

I disagree. I think we have a lot of money invested in our backline and the problem at the moment is that a big chunk of that money is sitting on the side lines ( Tuqiri and Lawrence). With Marshall, Ayshford, Tuqiri and Lawrence we have a lot of top line talent plus up and comers like Simona, Lui and Moltzen. With that much talent we only need solid journey men to fill out the rest of the back line, players like Utai, Daniella and Brown. If some of these players leave I wouldn't be against signing someone like Wes Naiqama who can cover wing, centre or fullback. But I don't think we need more top line talent.

On the other hand we still have a lot of trouble getting a roll on with out forwards, dominating the ruck and stopping other teams big men from creating second phase player. A strong forward like Blair is a major requirement and a large missing component from our forward pack, in my opinion, who would help fix many of these deficiencies in a way our current forwards (including Fifita and Gibbs) cannot.

I am hugely surprised that ayshford is stepping up like he is. Over the past few matches he's been outstanding and can't wait for lite to come back to help him be better.
I'd rather see lui shunted off elsewhere and let molten or miller step up. Lui has been rancid in defense lately.

The 2012 team I'd love to see:

1\. Wes Naiqama
2\. Lote Tuqiri
3\. Blake Ayshford
4\. Chris Lawrence
5\. Matt Utai

6\. Benji Marshall
7\. Robert Lui/Jacob Miller/ Tim Moltzen

8\. Keith Galloway
9\. Robbie Farah
10\. Aaron Woods
11\. Adam Blair
12\. Simon Dwyer
13\. Gareth Ellis

14\. Chris Heighington
15\. Liam Fulton
16\. Ben Murdoch-Masila
17\. Robert Lui/Jacob Miller/Tim Moltzen

Heighington on the bench? are you serious?

I still like the idea of Josh Miller from the raiders - great player and has been asked to leave.

We are only thinking in our own backyard, who is available from the UK?

I think we'll see something like this:

1\. Tim Moltzen
2\. Lote Tuqiri
3\. Blake Ayshford
4\. Chris Lawrence
5\. Matt Utai
6\. Benji Marshall
7\. Robert Lui

8\. Keith Galloway
9\. Robbie Farah
10\. Aaron Woods
11\. Adam Blair
12\. Gareth Ellis
13\. Chris Heighington

14\. Simon Dwyer
15\. Liam Fulton
16\. Ben Murdoch-Masila
17\. A young prop

The key questions to me are:

1\. Are we getting Blair ?
2\. How will Moltzen and Lui go ?
3\. Who will be on the wing - Utai or someone else ?
4\. Will Woods get his game together ?
5\. Will BMM turn into a gun ?
6\. What young prop will turn up ?

Brown

lote
benji
miller

farah
blair
