WESTS TIGERS SUPPORT NAIDOC WEEK
7/07/2010 4:45:35 PM
Wests Tigers players Shaun Spence and Matt Brassington passed on some rugby league tips to students at Sarah Redfern High School, Minto, today as part of NAIDOC week.

The day featured a touch football competition and sports workshops for the local Indigenous community.

The U20s players joined Wests Tigers Community Officer Nick Hurley in handing out team posters and cheering on the local teams in the touch tournament.

Teams were made up of predominantly indigenous representatives with the day organised to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

This year’s NAIDOC Week is an opportunity to acknowledge those unsung heroes of the Indigenous community who work to bridge the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, and help close the gaps in knowledge and understanding.

Wests Tigers will celebrate NAIDOC week at this Friday night’s game against the Gold Coast Titans at Campbelltown Sports Stadium. There will be special Indigenous performers and guest speakers as part of the night’s entertainment.
