6 man Bench Utilisation

I think this will be good for us in theory if Benji can get it right tactically

Having guys like Brookes, Attard, Tavana rotate through the sixth spot would be good, not just for injury but also for the odd occasion where we might be up comfortably and they can get a taste in a winning side.

So many of our players recently have debuted and had a few games in grade before tasting victory... remember young backs like Taniela and Lawrence coming into competitive, if not overly successful, teams and it looked easier from day 1.

3 forwards being interchanged with the last player being decided at a later point in the game

I feel the best advantage is to carry 3 forwards to keep the big guys fresh and punching through the field.

Then carry 3 guys that can fill your weakest positions if injuries occur.

Basically run a 3 man bench all season and only use the 4th guy as insurance.

I thought we gave one guy only 5 to 15 minutes each game anyway last year. The only issue for us is Api needs a break these days so we may be carrying a hooker/utility as first line bench.

Yeah that makes sense.

I think 3 forwards + (hooker) + (half) + (outside back).

But I reckon Benji is building our depth so that potentially the hooker, half & outside back can be rotated each week so players do not miss much game time.

For example, Hope could be on it one week & Haywood the next; Madden & Andrews; Makasini, Luke L, Saukuru, Attard etc.

I guess depends what the plan is for Latu on his return as he can cover multiple positions.

2 middle forwards: hunt/bunty/twal/ sione
1 edge forward: seyfarth/ sione
1 hooker: hope/murray/ godinet
1 half: fainu/ madden
1 outside back: plenty to choose from

I wouldn't load up on too many middle forwards because most teams use the same prop rotation regardless of scorecard, they just change minutes. If we are losing, we need smaller players and if we need to maintain a 2 point lead, we need mobile forwards.

I think the main thing is dual position players like MCK, aitken etc are less valuable now.
