6 tackles with gus

Hey crew

Just finished listening to this podcast and feel its worth a few minutes for us fans.

Gus basically discusses the tigers cap and the salary cap in general. Interesting that he feels no player is worth 1 mil with the static cap.

After crunching some numbers I actually agree. 1/8 of ur cap on 1 player is crazy when you need to sign 29 lmore.

Interested in others thoughts

Havent listened to the podcast but Gus should be careful not to get too holier than thou regarding the salary cap and WT problems with it. Moylan and Cartwright would have been re-signed on massive money in the last year or so by Penrith. Throw in Merrin and Tamou's huge salaries and Penrith will have plenty of headaches of their own in the near future surely.

Many Penrith players are going to be looking at contract upgrades in the new few seasons

I'm a big fan of Gus's when he isn't involved with a club and I don't blame him , if I could win some even small advantages for my own club you do it no questions asked

Gus doesn't want a new precedent to be set. If one club starts throwing million dollar per season contracts around, others will inevitably follow.

This is the same Gus who offered 1 million a season and the leagues club to Thurston

I think he did qualify that is the one time it was worth it, the of JT 3 seasons ago was going to win the comp (which he did), not the JT of now.

I think what he said is true, but without getting every club on board it will never happen. There will always be a club like the Chooks who will try and out buy any compertion.

You're spot on "Fade to Black", Gould has somehow managed to sign almost the entire roster on 2 and 3 year contracts on the presumption the cap would be in the region of 9.5m. Panthers got far bigger problems than we have. Personally I can't wipe the smile off my face.

Any club that have signed lots of players are in trouble. They should have to offload players and here we are with cash

The Cap will be higher smart clubs are over spending as they will have the NRL over a barrel. They will then use a lower cap as an excuse to get rid of players they don't want. We are operating in a PC fashion and it will backfire.
