A famous quote "NSW wanted to win, QLD had to win"

"Deep down one team knew they had a game up their sleeve"

Geez where have i heard that before?!

Fair dinkum, no wonder we couldn't put an 80 minute performance together under this bloke for years on end.

I dont think Tim was endorsing it. Just observing that desperation is a great incentiviser. Did Sheens sleep with your sister or something?

I have no idea how you tie that in to attitude problems over past 5 years.

I guess if Tim is present in the media we might see more of you, Eddie.

Please. I have heard it 5 plus times from Sheens over the years directly after losses from thw WT. They had to win, we wanted to win. Great stuff. Fans will back me up on that quote being used several times.

Anyway your weekly Potter rants have dried up. Those rants where we lost 7 in a row with a huge injury toll and the inherited mess of the previous coach. Sure his results overall might not be great however he has

* Introduced a number of young players
* Dropped Benji to the bench, who has since lost 5 kg and improved his form
* Moved Blair to prop and has since played well
* Won 4 games as rank outsiders
* Has the team playing more consistently across the 80 minutes
* Overall breaking up the boys club and creating a culture of accountability
* Most impressive to me his outright refusal to blame injuries or make excuses for losses.

Yes he has made a couple of blunders. However I think he is doing a great job in very trying circumstances. If he gets the same decade Sheens got I reckon we will see great results over time. Sheens did some great things at our club over the years. I have acknowledged that in several posts and greatful for him. He did a good job overall, however he was very stale and it showed in our performances. Unfortunetly he left us in a mess in 2012 and Potter is trying to pick up the pieces.

I have made my views on Potter clear.

Disgraceful start but he has made some good decisions recently. Still not convinced he has he tactical nuous but Im happy see out the year and see where it goes. I like the guy so i want see him do well.

I judge on what i see not biases.

pretty sure a number of things were out of his control.

can't make cheese from a pineapple.

I was never biased against Sheens

I praised him several times over the years. However he frustrated me with his selections. A side plays partly in the image of their coach, I have always believed that. Sheens was a innovator and a attack minded coach. Those things were great, However it is also the reason he had a boys club, couldnt tackle, couldnt put together 80 minutes, didnt drop underperforming players.

I think overall i don't hold biases. I think my opinion over the years on Sheens was formed due to results, but biases. I formed my opinion on Sheens based on what i saw with my eyes on the field over the years.

Some were but some of his decisions were his own and they were very poor. Thats okay as he has proven his positive qualities since then. Still a long way to go to convince me he is the real deal but i am listening.

The only real dumb error Potter has made was benching Farah. He hasn't done it again.

The most refreshing aspect is that he appears to have the balls to make the tough decisions and does not sit in the press conference after we have been smashed and say there were "reasons we lost but I don't want to use excuses".

I'm not convinced benching Farah was 'dumb'.

Maybe Robbie wasnt following the game plan and the benching was deserved?

Maybe Robbie, like Benji also now knows there are consequences?

My thoughts exactly.

Potter has made a few mistakes this season granted ,but Sheens would make the same amount of mistakes in half an hour

I'll back you Eddie. It was a Sheens cliche'

All im saying is you won't here Bellemy, Maguire, Hasler, Toovey etc come up with quote like that, and use it as a reason for a loss. Cliche or not for mine its a quote that if a coach uses it, it can get in a player mindset. It showed in our performances i thought to my eyes anyway. Not saying its a massive issue or anything, just annoyed me at the time.

A cliche? That's a crime in league? If it was there would be no coaches or players out of prison.

I didn't say it was a crime.

They don't have to. Their teams rarely lose and when they do the other team wasn't better or hungrier, the refs had it in for them. Watch Ricky Stuart or Steve prices post match interviews, it's a clicheathon
