WESTS Tigers prop Aaron Woods will today learn the full extent of a knee injury suffered at training this week.
The 21-year-old went down during a drill on Monday and underwent scans yesterday.
He was later spotted limping at training, but a Tigers spokesman described the tests as "precautionary" and Woods has already been ruled out of Saturday night's trial against Parramatta at Campbelltown Stadium.
An extended lay-off would spell disaster for the Tigers, who struggled to compete with bigger packs for large periods of 2012.
Woods was an impressive mainstay, relishing the spearhead role when front row partner Keith Galloway was unavailable.
But with understudies Matt Groat and new signing James Gavet already sidelined indefinitely with foot complaints, the Tigers cannot afford any further engine-room casualties.
Club officials have also discussed new prop recruits with player agents.
Former City Origin representative Shane Shackleton has been mentioned as a possible re-inforcement.
