Adam Doueihi #227

The best thing Adam can do in this game is let Madden do almost all the kicking and most importantly, use that big body of his to run the ball and take the pressure off the forwards.

Run the ball son.
I said it over and over, he is a backrower. There he can hog the ball all he likes and do the tackle busting he is known for. For gods sake he is big enough to play there. Why does he want to be a half only. He probably lacks confidence in his defence.

Douhi was great last year, but since returning looks disinterested and slow
Not sure whether its injury related or he wld prefer to be elsewhere
Hes not gonna get 570k from any other club..nor us on this form
Wake up Adam and put in some effort and let yr future sort itself out
He was massively overated last year, mainly by the Brooks death squadron. I think Brooks needs a change, but the amount of crucial tackles he made , and his effort was far ahead of AD and the rest of the side. AD was not great last year, he was ,and still is, an average player at best,in a side lacking speed and talent all over the park. Our interest in keeping sub standard players seems to continue.

Im hoping the looming spoon will be a blessing in disguise...a revelation that regardless of who coaches,so many of our overpaid underperforming "stars" are really very ..VERY..ordinary indeed

I think he will benefit from a good off season. I’m not convinced he is a 5/8 but some work in the off-season with Hastings at 13, him at 6, prob Brooks at 7, DL at 1 should get some cohesion.

Defence is a worry but can improve if the team improve the defensive patterns and start gaining confidence in each other

Don’t think madden is the answer and doing him any favours.

let’s see what the club does.

Ive gone along with your view of Douhie mate as obviously his heritage is close to your heart, but he is not a 5/8 sorry
You could be right.
I'm willing to see how he goes after a decent pre season...

2023 is a make or break year for him.

We paid $630k for someone unwanted at Souths. That’s not to say he can’t do a job for us.
He needs to hit the weights over the summer, build his upper body strength and learn how to win the collision.
Sheens will have him at 13 if he can do that. Alternatively, he can mope because he won’t get the 7 jersey, then get picked up by a club like Panthers who will play him off the bench.

Yeah I like it , maybe at centre.

AD is probably the best option we have internally for the position, but someone in the coaching staff has to stop him believing his own press. Before he can develop he needs to understand how limited his 5/8 skill set is. Only by understanding your shortfalls can he knuckle down and focus on addressing his positional play.

If he really sees himself as a 5/8 he needs an honesty session with a quality 5/8 that can focus on him over the off season. He currently does not read the game well or quickly enough; this stifles the outside attack. If he thinks he is about using his frame to break the line and offload he needs to start watching Jake over at Manly and get a job as a second rower outside of a quality 5/8. His size and strength are only the hammer in his toolbox.

To be the complete tradesman he needs some more subtle tools like being able to read the defensive decisions happening in front of him and then knowing when to pass early and when to go late and short, how to earn repeat sets on the line and when to commit in defence. Once he has mastered those he can move onto some precision tools like landing the ball from a kick on the chest of an outside back, a long passing game, and when and how to roam.

A good 5/8 is always learning and is never the completed product until the day he hangs up his boots.

IMO, at the moment, he is a great A grader as a 5/8.

Like all players, they all need the right cattle around them. AD return saw us being competitive, LB JM & JH had all year and done nothing. The only thing I can say is our form dropped after the JH injury. Doueihi has no one to work with at current, can’t blame him.👍
