Another (expected) dip

When bringing so many young players (quality) into first grade, performances ebb and flow. It takes time to generate experience. The facts are…...this is a quality team and when they play straight and with discipline, they will win close to every game.

Tonight they played horrible for 40 minutes, were down 24-0 and then almost won the game. Putting the first half to the side, Marshall's error (missing line) and a poor refereeing decision cost them the game. Put it this way, they play well for 50 minutes, they lap Cronulla.

I watched a game where a team had so much quality over the opposition, they should have won the game. Even a neutral would have seen that if Wests got their act together for the best part of the game, it would have been an easy kill.

Let's hope it is the final lesson for the season and Potter hammers them the next two weeks. If they learn the lessons from this evening, the perfect storm brews.....

it certainly wasn;t the young guys who lost us that game

Not keen to identify names, but look at the first half again, a couple of errors were made by some of the younger players. Experienced players made errors as well, but OVERALL, this is an inexperienced team that made errors.

I just think a big lesson was learnt this evening. When we controlled the ball, we almost made line breaks at will.

Massive finish to the season. The biggest call is Brooks. Do we bring him in or is he the last elusive piece and externally unknown piece to the puzzle for next season?

Yep, Nofo & Simona each made a massive error in the first 5 minutes but after that they got their heads together very well. They are starting to learn their trade, as you say, still a way to go but very impressive. Shame the experienced heads around them let them down.
On Brooks - supposedly the 2nd tier cap is the main issue there. If we're allowed to I think it's worth a shot. Brooks to 7, Sirro to 6 and Benji to 14\. Would probably work best for all 3 of them.

Without Brooks can the current team win the comp this year? Has he been training with the team and the final piece of the puzzle? Personally, if Brooks was to play half, Marshall to 6 and Sironen to 13, Sue to second row and Thompson to bench.

Seriously…...a perfect storm is brewing......Potter needs to put the ultimate question to this squad.

9th or 10th again?

After the start to the season I would be very happy with this.. Means quite a few more wins,I,m a realist from now on it,s more about 2014 .
If we were going to make the 8 last night had to be a win .

Agree there were a couple of costly errors by the young guys, and agree its part of the learning curve.

However, the main issues last night were with the senior players. Farah's terrible kick that lead to Cronulla's 2nd try, 3 senior players watching in fear as Fafita strolled past them, and Benji not finding touch and passing the ball over the sideline.

What really gets to me about how we allowed Fafita to play is the fact Sironen was our strongest defender against him. A 19 year old who has had limited weight training due to injuries and has played his career in the halves showed how to handle him while established stars were like 8 year old kids watching the oppositions big kid tear it up.
