Are we believing in the coach yet

Are we starting to believe the Weststigers have a coach that has instilled the will to win ,never take a back ward step and the confidence to back yourself and your team mates.Or is it just luck that 5 of the top 13 players are out and the winning continues! and of course the assistant coaches that he has brought in and all the support network, todays effort with your back against it and you still prevail says a lot about a coach! :sign:
 
Dont worry about the fans believing in the coach, the PLAYERS are starting to. It took a year to effect a cultural change however it is there for all too see. Its actually quite stunning how quickly he is transforming the sides mentality.
 
I think so plus the players are backing each other. But this is my opinion as some moron after the first lose questioned the coaches long term viability via a poll.

Bang on Eddie. I always thought that Potter's efforts last year were always going to be fruitless, but it seems the team is responding massively to the coaching teams input. Fantastic effort so far.
 
Yep don't have to hide behind false words. I was keen on Potter long before he started. He's a great coach and you could see last year with his poise and straight forward manner (and his cajones for benching Marshall) that he was the man for the job. So glad the idiots running the asylum weren't able to push him out as their one final act of idiocy before the new board took over.
 
My opinion is that Potter can definitely coach. One comment that stuck with me last year was Potter in an interview saying that one of his biggest assets is getting the best out of players. Injuries killed us last year, but we've learned from it and sticking to the structure when times are tough like today, well that will give the players so much self-belief and confidence moving forward.
 
He is made of tough stuff old mick . He has changed our culture and has the type of players coming through that can adapt to his plan and some guys that can create X factor . well done mick
 
I thought Potter got the tactics wrong today. It was clear our team had a license to play. To me that played into Parra's hands. I would have preferred a more direct and disciplined game today. Having just watched a replay I note that Potter didnt try and curb the style in his half time speech. IMHO we could have won this game early if we played disciplined footy.

That being said, the team is playing well and to his style. He has made some very good decisions over the past 6 months. He deserves any praise he gets right now. If we can 1 game from our next 3 I will be very happy with our start to the year.

Potter has got some huge decisions coming up
Dropping players from a winning team is brave
However I think moving Anasta on would make the team stronger

I think Anasta is short term for a long term plan. He's there for Brooks. I don't see Anasta as an over controlling 6\. But has the experience beyond a lot of players in the comp to mentor our junior halves. This allows Brooks to come out of his shell and control the game. Something that never would have happened with Benji and something that Austin can't add value to yet either. If that make any sense. does in my head anyway. Potter is a stratigic long term planning coach. there's nothing week to week about him.
 
To me Potters strength was always he wouldn't accept excuses. Everyone was accountable from day one. It's given this team a self belief. It doesn't matter who is out or injured, it's not an excuse to turn it up. Potter expects ( and so do the players…,thank God) to win no matter what 17 are available . It was 12 months of pain, but it had to be done and I think everyone would agree its worth it.

I said last year I would not renew my membership if Potter was sacked. I'm glad the board honored his contract. Now I have no hesitation in urging an extension ASAP. It's already been earned.

Yes always have. The criticism and judgment leveled at him, by the media and others, in his first year as coach was nothing short of ridiculous - Rome wasn't built in a day!

Somebody on the forum said when we signed him that he would make a few enemies but was head strong and disciplined,

Time has shown this to be true and those against him may have moved on or bought in.

My only concern is that his tactics at times "apparently" raise eyebrows with senior players and staff, but again time will tell. Before you accuse me of making it up the comment was from Rowdy!!!

Either way i think he has done wonders for next to no money and no thanks from the media or WT board.

Says a lot about the man.

I had the belief prior to participating on this forum mid last year, from which time all my posts regarding him confirm. Amongst other things, I think the Benji situation and injury crisis we experienced clouded the vision of many forumers.
