Sorry to put this in this section, but thought it would be worthwhile for as many to see it as possible before it was moved to General Discussion.

A lot has been going on around here lately that is taking away from what this forum is about. Like in all walks of life, we always have those who we clash with and the forum is pretty much the same except one thing, we are all Tigers supporters.

People will always disagree, but im tired of differing opinions turning into a war. Im not claiming innocence here, as ill retaliate if i feel someone has a go at me, not if they disagree, but if they have an unwarranted go. I dont think i have ever started a blue on here, but ive certainly been in a few and i guess that makes me just as bad.

The main issue i want to bring up is vandetta's. It appears as though there's a small few that hold a grudge if u disagree with them on something. They will then read every post of the guy they dont like and try and pick a fight, its so stupid. When i disagree with someone, i always look forward to hopefully agreeing with that same person on the next subject. For me, thats what this forum is about. After all, we are all Tigers supporters.

A little bit has been said about blocking people's posts so u cant see them, i find that so sad. What i find even sadder is that i felt the need to actually do this myself. It got to the point where i realised the certain poster had become irrelevant to why i use the forum.

The thing i want people to try and take on board is that when u disagree with someone, it doesnt mean u have to disagree with them on every little thing just for the sake of it. Let that argument go and treat each further subject and opinion on its merits. And if u dont agree with someone, why does it have to end in a an argument? Its hardly ever resolved with good discussion. Actually trying to see where the poster is coming from even though u disagree can really help avoid any crap. Ive disagreed with many things, but at the same time taken the point of the poster on its merits. Its not hard.

Once again im not claiming innocence here, and im not aiming this at one person, there's been many different factions fighting and thats what has made me write this.

U can call me a do gooder or what ever, but i really dont want to block anyone's posts, we should be able to take each post on its merits regardless of who writes it.

Ive now un-blocked the guy i blocked and i really hope i never have to do something like that again, its bloody un-australian.

Lets all try and disagree with a little respect for a fellow Tigers opinion.

Well said King. I've said before the reason this forum works is because the moderators do a good job of preventing the flaming and/or swear-fests that some other forums are. I like to think I debate the issue not the poster - obviously I don't agree with everything that gets posted but personal attacks just ruin forums (take a look at some of the other teams forums if you want to get an idea. Or LU). Things like "if you think that you don't know anything about football" are just dumb.

Don't get me wrong - I love a good argument. Just not flame wars. And that's my two cents!!

I think those are reasonable comments Sirro. And in fact I was on the verge of posting something similar myself, as I find it very sad that the Lote thread has had to be closed because, apparently, it was deemed to be getting out of control. Personally I dont think it was, but regardless it has happened; and how sad is that when the club is potentially on the verge of signing one of the biggest names in the rugby codes, it can't even be discussed on the supporter's forum?

Good post KS…I always like it when someone says "we" instead of "you" or "you guys"....I often try to do the same thing myself.
I feel like i cant say a thing here without people jumping on my back, so best I leave it at that I guess.

Agree whole heartedly with you King. I don't write all that much on here so I haven't been in any verbal stouches yet, but some of the things I have read on here can be petty and demeaning. Lets all just debate the issues and leave personal grudges at the door, noone here thinks keyboard warriors are cool, just immature.

I also think the moderators can relax a little on the culling of posts and threads. The Lote thread in my opinion hadn't gone overboard, I for one would cheer the reopening of the thread.

It is a shame that things get out of hand in some topics.

At the end of the day we are all here for one reason - our love of the Wests Tigers and the places where the club came from - Balmain and Western Suburbs.

100% could not have said it any better!
