Attitude

Penrith got belted by Manly who were minus the Stewart bros Foran and TRex. In the 2nd half Manly were rucking it out of their end when Ballin passed it to Cherry Evans who didn't dummy didn't shimmy he tucked it under his arm and launched himself at the Penrith forwards, some of whom would weigh 30kg more than him.
That's the attitude, desire and mongrel thats needed to win a Comp. We dont have that, will we ever have that?

Our Attitude is not the problem. Against Canberra, Souths and Brisbane, our attitude has been fine. In two of those games unfortunately, the opposition (Brisbane and Canberra) were just in a different class.

We have been trying our asses off but there just not good enough. Last week we played with 15\. Robbie Farah was taking full blown hitups for the last 25 minutes of the game. Beau Ryan, Liam Fulton etc all play well above there weight.

There are many many reasons why we arent a premiership side and its not attitude. Having the slowest outside backs in the comp, having no kicking game, having a style which makes it hard for the forwards to gain metres, carrying too many small forwards who are easily dominated.. etc.

For the first time since following my team, I have started to lose some enthusiasm. I think there is attitude there, I just don't know what type it is. It appears to me the Tigers are unable to focus on more than one issue at a time. Our forwards have been called soft over the past month so we focused on that and over the past few weeks they have toughened up and stood their ground. Great. But then what happens ? Because players are so focused on fixing one problem we loose focus on the little basic things. I use letting Isaac Luke score not 1 but 2 dummy half tries against us as an example. Then on Friday night, our back line and halves stepped it up and chimed in with some lovely angle running at speed and we actually made some really good line breaks for what to happen, lose focus on those other basic things and bang 2 tries to come from bombs being allowed to bounce between a number of players standing around. Unforgivable. It appears for every one step forward we are taking two back. I think the attitude in the team now for the majority of players is fear. Fear they are going to be the one to stuff something up. And of course with that attitude comes lack of confidence, thus things like players standing looking at each other when a kick comes down because no one wants to catch the ball in case they knock it on. That's the attitude in this team right now, and to be honest, I can not see where our next win will come from whilst this attitude exists. Utter and complete disarray.

however i contradict myself when we too like Penrith are out sorts, so ultimately one team this Sunday will have a new attitude at around 4.30 pm.

Watmough,Glenn,Lowrie, are all relatively small but hardly ever get man handled. There is a hard edge to these players that most Wests Tigers players don't seem to possess. Ellis has it,Woods I believe has it but the others fall short. I thought Blair would bring this edge but I've hot serious doubts.

I agree you need the hard edge, but its not always the case. I just dont think our players are good enough.

Take Liam Fulton for example, hes as tough as nails but unfortunately hes too small. He tries his guts out, puts his body on the line as much as he can. He can run straight and hard as he can but hes more likely to be pushed back than still go forward. Look at Broncos first try, he ran in to make the tackle, but the broncos runner was just too physical for him and got the offload away. A far less couragous player with a bit more size could of wrapped him up there. Heighno is in that same category.

Then the backs, I dont doubt the heart of them, Ryan, Ayshford and Reddy for example all try, but for outside backs they are all simply not quick enough and not skilled enough compared to the standards of the majority o the NRL.

100% agree I don't question their effort but watching Hoffman and Norman constantly break out of tackles on Friday night led to our downfall. Their backs were too physical.

Brisbane were not in a different class, your kidding milford , what game do you watch ?
If Benjis pass sticks,or he hits Lawrence on the chest we win the game as easy as that ,the no try led to a roll that we nearly pegged back , If they were that good the score would have looked a lot better for the Broncos.
If our Attitude was good we would havbe got over their first try and not let them get away to a 10 -0 lead .
Milford never was MAGIC.

Lol champ.
Its funny you talk about how we were one pass from sticking away, yet you fail to acknowledge Brisbane bombed two tries where the last pass didnt stick. Had they taken them it would of been 20-0\. Brisbane controlled the game from the 10th minute or so on and never looked like loosing from there. They controlled possession and territory despite the fact they were against a 6-1 penalty count. Now thats impressive. Not to mention we scored 2 tries when it didnt matter, and who knows would they of switched off like that if the game was on the line.

The fact that a bomb was let to bounce is not an indication of the whole sides attitude. Our side defended for 25 or so tackles in a row on our own line at one stage only to be beaten in the air off a kick at the end.The attitude was clearly there.
