Axl Rose tipped as new AC/DC frontman

I know there's a lot of passionate Acca Dacca fans on here. What you guys think. Very odd timing if true imo given Guns reunion tour is only weeks away from getting started.

…..........................................................................................

It has been claimed Axl Rose is to replace Brian Johnson as the frontman of AC/DC for the remainder of the band's tour.

The Guns N' Roses singer is said to be on the brink of announcing he will join the group for its final U.S. tour dates, with an American radio host claiming his new role is 'all but a done deal'.

According to Atlanta Radio 100.5 DJ Jason Bailey, the 54-year-old was spotted in the city at the same time as the band after being 'flown in' while they auditioned replacements for Johnson, who resigned earlier this year because he is losing his hearing.

'This is what I’m being told, Axl was meeting with the AC/DC group, because it’s all but a done deal that Axl will front AC/DC for the 10 remaining shows. All 10, including Atlanta,' said Bailey, citing a 'very good source'.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted representatives for the musicians for clarification.

Earlier this month, AC/DC released a group statement announcing they had postponed the remaining 10 shows of their tour amid fears Johnson, 68, was losing his hearing.

'AC/DC's lead singer, Brian Johnson, has been advised by doctors to stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss,' a statement on the band's official website said.

It was later explosively claimed that the singer felt pushed out by the band and that his replacement may already have been selected.

U.S. comedian Jim Breuer said in his podcast that the singer felt he had been 'kicked to the kerb' by fellow band mates after confiding in them with health concerns.

According to Breuer, Johnson still felt as though he would be able to perform some of the shows and was horrified to discover that they had been postponed the day after sharing his news.

He alleged that the singer had all of his equipment unceremoniously shipped to his home, adding: 'He heard from someone that they have already hired somebody and it just hasn't been announced yet.'

He later backtracked on the claims, taking to Facebook to insist he had exaggerated some of what he was told and deny initial suggestions guitarist Angus Young had any role in Johnson's departure.

AC/DC has not officially announced a replacement for the singer. In the statement announcing Johnonson's departure from the Rock or Bust tour they hinted that forthcoming shows would 'likely' feature a 'guest vocalist'.

Rose is due to lead Guns N' Roses as the band headlines at Coachella festival in California next month.

The popular festival does not begin until April 15, ten days after AC/DC's final tour date in New York.

I'm an AC/DC fan .. Seen them a few times, but gezz they're old . Not the AC/DC off yester-year . Why treat Brain like that and why try to take it so serious at their age. Relax fellas . Do something different now

Pretty heartless by Angus imo. This is the guy that pretty much saved their band after Bon died.

Sad to hear the great band are almost at an end. I remember Joan Jett fronting Nirvana at their rock n roll hall of fame induction. Was not that bad. Maybe Axel will be ok, it is only for 10 shows and in the US.

Guns do a pretty good version of Whole Lotta Rosie

AC/DC were essentially done once Malcolm left anyway.
It's sad to see Brian go out like this.

Can't believe John Farnham has been overlooked

Travesty of justice

I'll not hear a bad word about Johnny. The only act I've seen in concert five times.

Wife's seen him 4 times CB

She actually left me in Hospital after having appendix removed to go and see him in concert

He is my arch nemesis , the man is evil to the core :imp:

I would too For Farnham…was it the last 4 of his 220 Farewell Tours...

Both bands have a bit in common. Neither have many original many original members left, and both have been on a downhill slide in recent years.

Guns are about to reunite with Duff, Slash and possibly Steven Adler now as well.

I actually think Axl's voice would lend itself well to AC/DC songs. His voice these days is very gruff and scratchy like Johnson's voice. He'd do a good job, but seeing him up on stage with Angus would be so out of context

Does Axl still wear the white bike shorts? They should not be allowed anywhere near an AC/DC gig.

I remember after Bon died and they brought in Brian, then released Back in Black…. One of the best albums ever btw.... .
Brian said he'd had a dream, or was visited by bons ghost who told him he was happy with the album. I was very young and had just bought it and was somewhat convinced by this BS.... Only realising later when older what PR BS it was
They've come a long way from Burleigh St Burwood & Ashfield BHS
