Back to square one

I feel like we have gone back to how we were at the start of the season.

Apart from the introduction of new forwards and continued form of woods and farah, i think our team has gone back to square one.

no stability in halves- out of form centres- no set fullback- mounting injury counts etc.

- I just dont think Anasta has any creativity to be in the halves, especially when Benji isn't there.
- Sirronen, I still dont see as a 5/8\. His passing game is non existant, however, his whole running on the fringe is amazing.
- Once again, I feel like Miller wasn't given a proper go in first grade. Yes, he lacked creativity, but he was taking the line on.. a lot of times, a little hesitant to throw the final pass, but he was getting there. Potter should've persevered with him IMO.

Ayshford showed speed and strength in the line break he did, but again he lacks that final pass, he cannot finish a set move… he cannot deliever the final pass
Lawrence.. nothing more can be said about him.

- Moltzen's inability to support play is borderline pathetic, as well as him not willing enough to run the ball back. Yet, he looks like our only form of backline attacking option out there.

The injuries to key players as well as fringe first graders is killing us out there. Benji is a big loss not because of his potential attacking prowess but more because it means Potter has to twinge the spine around over and over again. We badly need stability.

One thing we have improved on though is attitude, however we have lacked ability and smartness to go with the attitude. There were so many times pettybourne charged out of the line to miss a tackle, i have lost count.

There is a lot of work to be done, but after the Storm game, I think we have gone backwards.

No doubts we are back at square one. Unfortunately injuries will do this. My approach though has changed for the season. I haven't seen anything to suggest we'll be a threat this year. My approach is to give the youth a go. So far it's happened, albeit due to injury. Seumanafagai, Akoula, Sue, Spence, Tedesco, Koroibete, Buchanan have all gotten game time, the majority ahead of time due to injuries and suspension. It's the silver lining I guess. Back on the topic of no progress and back to square one, as true as it is, there are reasons for it and a lot of them can't be helped.

I think we will see a fair few players turned over at the end of the season

At least Potter is getting a chance to see who is up for the next step ot NRL and who isn't

Some of these players who should be turned over at the end of the season are on extensive contracts i.e. Adam Blair. Wests Tigers cannot afford to do these players what they did with Sheens who is happilly being paid many thousnads of dollars per week for not doing anything. Combine that problem with the Rozelle Leagues club fiasco and you have a terrible financial mess for the Wests Tigers.

We went forward from Monday night. We maintained structure till the game was there to be won with 10 minutes left. At the 70 minute mark, we lost our halfback, our composure and executed poorly.

We have a decent forward pack and a tight game plan will see us win plenty of games. For Balmain fans, it is 1988 all over again, for Western Suburbs fans, it is 1991 all over again. Welcome back Wozza-ball - strong forwards, discipline, good defence and winning games through pressure. From here on, we won't blow teams away until the last 10-15 minutes.

We were killing them today in the forwards, just two things cost us:

1\. Lawrence/Tedesco defensive pairing. Tedesco has a lack of experience on the wing and made some poor decisions in defence. Lawrence looks low on confidence and could not cover Tedesco. All 3 Dragons try came down that side of the field.

2\. Poor execution in the last 10 minutes. Despite the issues identified above with Tedesco and Lawrence, we were killing them through the middle and had them on toast with 10 to go. Anasta got injured and a reshuffle was required.

Patience people, patience…

I thought there were a lot of positives to take for this game.

First of all, had Lawrence held the ball over the line, or Ayshford hold it with two hands, it's a very different game.

Secondly, we had a fair amount of attacking talent in the sidelines. Benji, Koro and Big Sauce are a massive part of our offensive game.

Finally, we got a good look at the young talent coming through. BMM was fantastic, young blokes put in and Teddy looks the goods in support.

Not all doom and gloom. If we can field a full side for most of the season, we can be a force.

Also, Moltzen sucks. Enough said
