The opposition scored conselation points. Was a solid effort

Wests also beat Illawarra in the Matts. Lost in Ball though.

Big game tomorrow in Melbourne for the Balmain SG Ball boys

I would have thought the best way to showcase Melbourne Junior League would have been to have this game as a curtain raiser to the NYC rather than at an obscure suburban ground, after all aren't the Storm playing the NRL game at 7.00pm so why couldn't they have a 'triple header' and give their Juniors a boost!.

Gosch's paddock is less than 100 metres away from AAMI Park.

30-28, 6 tries to 5.

The Balmain boys looked great. Certainly deserved the win. Fairer score would have been 30-22 which it was till they [This word has been automatically removed]ed up a short kick off from Melbourne with 5 to go. Had they taken posession it would have finished at a 2 try margin.

Most impressive to me were the kids wearing 12, 8 & 2\. The winger, who I am guessing may be in his junior year of Ball pulled off a massive 1 on 1 ball and all tackle on the tryline with less than 2 minutes to go when Melbourne ran on the last to save the game. Kid injured himself for his trouble too.

The halfback is a speedy one. Scored one try from 35 out, just blitzed everyone.

Craig, you are correct the (2) Maile Li is the younger brother of Leva. I was told that he absolutely smashed that guy who looked like he was going to score and along with that tackled well and had some strong runs. He was awarded the Players Player award for his efforts.
From all reports it was a mediocre performance from Balmain and the Ref who who was only reffing one team, balmain even got penalised for a one on one strip. We bombed 3 or 4 tries but thank God we got the 2 points, we will need to improve on that performance to get over the Drag Queens next week.

Yeah but it's what I'd expect from a bunch of 16-18yos travelling interstate for the weekend. It's hard enough for the seasoned professionals in first grade, let alone a bunch of kids.

Reffing actually wasn't that bad. At one point the boys gave up a try off the back of - Ruck interference, Lifting, High Tackle. & all were legit penalties lol

Would agree they bombed some tries, but also created quite a few from range that probably weren't there.
\
\
They were easilly the better side, it really was only the two Storm props who were keeping Melbourne in the game.

Not suprised the boys gave the winger the players player award after that effort. It really was a massive tackle, not only in that he did smash him but in the context of the game.
