Being a Tigers Fan

First and formost, I love my Tigers. I cried when we won the grand final and when we beat St. George the game before. And I was absolutely shattered tonight that I felt that same feeling coming on.

But the way we play, the brilliance mixed with the utter %$@#, the unpredictability, the uncertainty.

Its a hard life going for the Tiges. Think of the Dragons, or the Sharks. At least hwne you go to a game your pretty certain your going to win or lose respecively. I have no idea, and I haven't for many years.

It's a tough life.

yeah I was at the club tonight watching the game with a bunch of tigers fans I recon this team isnt good for your health we were all yelling and screaming I swear my heart rate has only just normalised, we are just so unpredictable kinda think Benjii typifies our team brilliant one minute stupid the next!!!

When are people going to realise. Benji is the worlds best touch football player who has marketed himself so well he should be going up against julia next week. He is our highest paid player. The japan stuff was a master stroke. If he was off contract tomorrow i bet even the sharks wouldnt offer him a cent. I love the tigers but come on please, we are imposters in this top eight and will finish 9th again.

I was there in 69, (actually before that too…..)
I think every true Tiger player and supporter would be ashamed of the lack of pride and commitment this bunch showed tonight!
:brick:

Guys… I wouldnt have it any other way. Thats the way we are always fighting, unpredicable. Losing is horrible, but winning is just so, so SWEET!

Mate same here i go back to the mid 60s and unlimited tackle football and have followed the Tigers faithfully through good and bad.Even at our worst we played with more pride than this i would imagine old magpie supporters would feel the same.It all comes back to the coach if he cant get the best out of them then he is the wrong man for the club.Get out of the club Tim you are destroying us

You got that right! I reckon us Wests Tigers members should get high blood pressure medication with our memberships!

I am as loyal as the rest of us here, I have never contemplated even thinking about following another team. After growing up going to Leichhardt, how could you? After that game last night, it's the first time I have ever thought that I am just god damn sick of the watching them play and I have just had enough of the total ineptitude. It is like watching the under 8's run around.

I don't think we have been beaten this year by another teams brilliance, we always get bet by our stupidity and lack of concentration and commitment.

I think coach Sheens should have made each and every one of them boys stand at the turnstiles on the way out and apologise to every single supporter that left the ground.

Farewell Fellow Forumers,
I have been a Tigers supporter for over 40 years, like many of you here. I have endured wooden spoons and sub-standard playing rosters. I have sufered near misses and been exhalted by premiership wins. In the last 5 years I have encountered continued disappointment as the year rolls on. This year there have been no excuses. I am now too old to feel this way. I was shaking with heart palpatations, wandering around the house aimlessly after last nights game. I am not willing to do this any longer. So I am:
1\. putting my Tigers gear away.
2\. Not going to any more games
3\. Not renewing my Tigers membership.
4\. Not passing up invitations, or shrugging commitments to watch the team play.
5\. Not troweling the Forum every day for news and gossip.
Farewell forumers. There are more enjoyable ways to live, and following the Tigers isn't one of them.

Man up u clowns, yep we were ordinary last night but have been for a while now… What is pathetic is this crap above i am more ashamed of our supporters, this is dribble, now i understand the pain i didnt sleep well at all.... I will never turn on my team you are all a joke get up there with maxwell.... we dont need this weak ass support go.... the only thing i am thinking about leaving is this forum, as you are becoming very tiring... time to leave manly/dragon supporters bye bye....

Tigergirlz,
I agree with all of the 5 points but when you have no commitments, with no news of who is playing….......
I urge you to go to the game in plain clothes as a general admission ticket holder!
Basically that is what I do. Enjoy the atmosphere and the company you go with.
Honestly, I found that my health was more important than a footy result! I copped last nights loss on the chin. nothing I could do from the lounge room could change any of what was happening so yes I was getting frustrated but the company/guests we had over had me in a much happier mood than if I would have devoted my time and emotions to the 40inch lcd in the lounge room.
So when I go to a game I am there for the atmoshpere but I do not get anymore involved than a gracious clap when we do things right and a shake of the head when we do them wrong!
In saying that......if we win the premiership again then the old voice may come back and have one last belt out of "go tigers with a premiership schooner in my hand!!!"

All the best,
a very understanding Triserratops!

Some of you should realise that you are actually Wests fans and understand some history before losing the plot. I have supported Wests for over thirty years. Saw the NSWRL attempt to kick the club out of the competition in 1982, losing our entire first grade team and collecting countless wooden spoons between 1983-1990 and followed by the club lose the will to fight officialdom in 1998-1999 and merging with Balmain.

We lose a match and we are running 5th in the competition and this leads you to spit the dummy in a fit of depression. If this is a source of despair and brutal disappointment, geeeeez, I am glad you weren't in the trenches with me and co Wests supporters in the 1980's….

An old maggie myself Gary, I have been through the tough times as have many balmain supporters!
I just take a different approach when I watch games now.
I love my Tigers but they don't rule my world. Footy isnt everything to me ( it used to be) time spent with my family is way more important than any footy game nowadays …regardless of whether you're winning or losing!

I still say we win the premiership! We will find a way! Destiny Calls :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

Big difference though.
Bacjk then when we were shyte we knew we were shyte.
Apparently were not anymore, the club is a force and people expect more.

Dunno why people need to announce their departure, just leave, but if you do….dont come crawling back.

100% spot on … i can take a loss .. but last night ranks with the smashing we got by souths at leichhardt a few years back ... the old girls was chokkers , the sun was shining and we all walked out of leichhardt shattered .....
fall on your sheens ... do the honourable thing for us diehards ......the players dont want a bar of sheens anymore .....

We are lucky that this is the only time this season where we've lost this type of game. I guess you could say the 2nd Roosters game, also. Most of the losses have been by ten points or more. This crap has happened at least three times in each of the last couple of seasons. I didn's see last night's game as I was at a work function but really, all it has done is cancelled out one of those three or four fortunate wins we've already had this year. Just imagine how dire the situation would be if we'd lost two more of those? We'd be 10-10 and coming 10th!!!

One thing I would like to say is that I really wish that our players would just SHUT UP and stop talking about getting revenge or winning the minor premiership. Boys, you've missed the finals for four straight years!!! You don't have the RIGHT to be even mentioning winning the minor premiership!

Just SHUT THE HELL UP and do your talking on the field!

In my opion the side isnt playing for each other. I honestly thought after the belting Souths gave us earlier in the year we'd be switched on, & even after loosing Lawrance I thought it would wake us up. To me it looks like their all waiting for the bloke next to him to do it. ie. one percenters. Ryan & Lote last night a prime example, knocking on a mtr out. Another is kick returns. When are we going to get a fullback that gets on his bike and gives us 15 or 20 mtrs straight up, instead of running the width of the feild trying to link up loosing 10mtrs in the process. Ryan was having a shocker last night and for the coaching staff to persist with him the entire game in my opinion was a disgrace. It was one of many that cost the game. They knew it wasn't working & to continue to let it happen is inexcusable from Sheens & co. Maybe playing him out of position was inexcusable, maybe we should have promoted a traditional fullback. Ryan needs to go back to the State Cup. Did anyone hear Robbie having to spray him to get back in the line after he gave away that stripping penalty?? No discipline and should be dropped for atleast a week to show that no one is a walk up start week in week out.

What it comes down to, were not good enough. We have barely beat sides we should have beaten easily creating false expectations. We are under coached ie. selections / positional selections & players are going through the motions. But I am not going to give up what I love, as frustrating as it is. I have succumbed to fact we may not even make finals & if we do, we are just making up the numbers. The way we are playing that is.

I have just returned home after a 600klm round trip to watch the Pussycats last night. I can't help but ask myself "why did I bother?" I left home with such high expectations, armed with my jersey, scarf, flag and all the other junk to watch a team of pretenders lie down and let Souffs beat them YET AGAIN!!!!

Apparently Robbie Farrah said in the post match press conference that the team is better than that. I don't think so Robbie. I think that's the best you can go - at least I hope you all give your best as a mark of respect to your long-suffering supporters who follow you week-in week-out, year-in year-out.

If my memory serves me correctly, after Souffs flogged us last time a young supporter gave Benji his jersey back as a sign of his disgust at the performance. Expect a few more jerseys to be returned before this season is out fellas.

I have been a Tigers supporter for over 40 years and will be a Tiger till the day I die but my poor old heart can't take too much more -it's been broken too many times by the team I love. Step up and show a bit of respect for us poor suckers who waste our hard-earned cash on merchandise and tickets.
