Being a Tigers Fan

Hi guys,

I know im trolling but im a huge RL supporter and i love to go on other NRL teams forums and discuss RL as i practically breathe it.

I noticed that some of you were disheartened at the inconsistent performances of your team. Well chin up guys, at least your team is coming 5th. I think Tigers can still give this comp a huge shake up and this years title is pretty much up for the taking by ANY top 8 team. It has been an extremely inconsistent year and with the cheats out i really think that each of the top 8 teams can defeat any other top 8 team on their day. So dont feel disheartened, you have something to be proud of.

I on the other hand have lost half my hair. You think your teams inconsistent?? Try supporting parra who i think HANDS DOWN wins the Jekyll and Hyde award of the year ( make that past few years). While ive lost most (99%) hope that we can make the finals, i do remain abit optimistic and deep down think BUT MAYBE we can do it. So if i can have HOPE, im sure you guys, who are WELL in the top 8 and really only have to win 2 of your next 4 games ( if that ) to make it, can have hope too!

Good luck!

Folks the main difference between the imposters who played last night and any team you care to name in the last 100 years of Rugby League for either Wests or Balmain…..is this bunch are TV stars and newsreaders........they get off with backslapping, poetic license rubbish and actually believe the bull crap themselves.....
Hey you imbeciles who played last night.....the hype on TV, Radio and in the newsprint is for fans, not to influence and entrance the highly paid, finely tuned experts in their sport!!!
Maybe that is why serious teams can ignore the media and maintain a reliable standard of football?

Farewell Fellow Forumers,
I have been a Tigers supporter for over 40 years, like many of you here. I have endured wooden spoons and sub-standard playing rosters. I have sufered near misses and been exhalted by premiership wins. In the last 5 years I have encountered continued disappointment as the year rolls on. This year there have been no excuses. I am now too old to feel this way. I was shaking with heart palpatations, wandering around the house aimlessly after last nights game. I am not willing to do this any longer. So I am:
1\. putting my Tigers gear away.
2\. Not going to any more games
3\. Not renewing my Tigers membership.
4\. Not passing up invitations, or shrugging commitments to watch the team play.
5\. Not troweling the Forum every day for news and gossip.
Farewell forumers. There are more enjoyable ways to live, and following the Tigers isn't one of them.

 that's pathetic

being a tigers supporter for 40 years you should be used to it

I have seen many Tigers losses, it is these heart wrenching losses that make the wins that much better. It is the roller coaster ride of Wests Tigers and rugby league. I love my club, and will stick with them through thick and thin. We are still in the 8, when we upset the panthers next weekend the heartache of this loss will be dulled. Stay strong, always a tiger.

Totally agree. Its these people who come out when we make the top 4 and win in Week 1 to say they have supported the club for 40 years and hope they get a seat when we play in week 2\. It's pathetic. Don't make a claim that you are some avid supporter when you leave when your team does crap. It's totally pathetic, and pretty childish.

I don't support a winning team. I support the Tigers, wins, losses, draws, whatever.

Thanks for a bit of perspective, "Iloveparra" (I can't believe I just typed that!) I noticed that your team conceded five (I think) tries to bombs against Gold Coast. We were having apoplexies over the three bomb tries we conceded vs the Sharks.

We haven't 'clicked' as a team since we flogged the Warriors. If we'd won Saturday we still wouldn't have played well. We have four games in the run up to the play-offs to start playing like a committed team. We can still readily take good form and a top four finish into the play-offs and show everyone what we are made of. C'mon Tigers.

Jesus…I'm a little embarrassed.....and excited...

Embarrassed...cause it takes a Parra fan to point out the obvious,,

Excited...cause we have found the only decent Parra supporter...

After the Raiders towel the Panfers.... Wests Tigers will be in the same position as they started the weekend....

LOL, you guys crack me up! Don't worry there are plenty of decent parra supporters out there it just so happens (unfortunately) that only the idiot ones join public forums and humiliate the rest of us. :frowning:

Though i have to say, i LOVE the way you guys refer to Hayne has 'God' on this forum. Almost spat out my coffee from laughter reading some of the comments written by you guys. Don't think the boss was impressed!

As for putting things into perspective for you guys, im glad to do so! With Mortimer as our halfback i truly believe that i WILL not see a grandfinal win in my lifetime so im making it my responsibility to walk around and remind people of how much worse their life would be if they had our 6 and 7\. It seems to work! Everyones appreciating their team A whole lot more!

I have just returned home after a 600klm round trip to watch the Pussycats last night. I can't help but ask myself "why did I bother?" I left home with such high expectations, armed with my jersey, scarf, flag and all the other junk to watch a team of pretenders lie down and let Souffs beat them YET AGAIN!!!!

Apparently Robbie Farrah said in the post match press conference that the team is better than that. I don't think so Robbie. I think that's the best you can go - at least I hope you all give your best as a mark of respect to your long-suffering supporters who follow you week-in week-out, year-in year-out.

If my memory serves me correctly, after Souffs flogged us last time a young supporter gave Benji his jersey back as a sign of his disgust at the performance. Expect a few more jerseys to be returned before this season is out fellas.

I have been a Tigers supporter for over 40 years and will be a Tiger till the day I die but my poor old heart can't take too much more -it's been broken too many times by the team I love. Step up and show a bit of respect for us poor suckers who waste our hard-earned cash on merchandise and tickets.

Agree 100% Long Distance Tiger ! :brick:

I followed Saturday nights game on the NRL iphone application.
I tell you for about an hour I was ecstatic. We were 28-16 at one point.
But then watching the Rabbitohs slowly come back, that was heart wrenching.
And when it came full time at 30-all I called everyone I knew that could possibly be watching the game.
It is heartbreaking to loose that way.
But I'm hoping this is the kick up the ass the tigers need.
They have been winning, yes. but they haven't been playing the best to their ability. I am hoping they have realised they need to change their perception on this season and start firing!
Everyone who is so negative on this forum should snap out of it!
We have missed out on the finals for the past 4 years by 1 or 2 places. With Storm out that means we should just scrape by. And if we do scrape by we could definately still kick ass in finals. Look at the eels last year! We are a very up and down team and you're all so negative right now. We could have an up at any point now! This loss could have the same affect as the last rabbitohs game, we came back firing from that game!
Stay positive and it might rub off to the players!

First and formost, I love my Tigers. I cried when we won the grand final and when we beat St. George the game before. And I was absolutely shattered tonight that I felt that same feeling coming on.

But the way we play, the brilliance mixed with the utter %$@#, the unpredictability, the uncertainty.

Its a hard life going for the Tiges. Think of the Dragons, or the Sharks. At least hwne you go to a game your pretty certain your going to win or lose respecively. I have no idea, and I haven't for many years.

It's a tough life.

A tough life - mate for me it is what makes watching and being a fan of the tigers so awesome and amazing. I absolutley love our play and the excitement and the risks and uncertainty -I know every week I am going to be excited thrilled interested - none of which I would get following the dragons or Sharks

Its a fantastic life

v Souths I thought we played some of our best football this year and it was only a couple of blokes at the back Ryan haveing an unlucky shocker of a match which u only have once in acareer and Lote playing horrible horrible football (Oh and Lui not being able to tackle - although his defence was still much better then his opposite number has ever produced in his career)

Still loved the game hated the result but loved the football - great attack and defence by the tigers forwards, Robbie and Benji weaving magic taking risks , Lawrence showing his class, young latu impressive and even the down moments were exciting

Whats not to love

The fact that I couldn't speak for about an hour and a half after our loss because I was so shattered. That's whats not to love. I'm not saying I'd swap it for anything, I'm just saying that it isn't as easy to follow us as it would be to follow other teams.

You know Souths fans, Doggies fans, Cowboys fans… they all say the same as the sentiments in this thread. The Parra guy above summed it up perfectly: sometimes you get up, sometimes you don't.

In the end, everyone bar 2-3 teams walk away disappointed each year. Even 1988-89, although being a golden age of the Balmain Tigers, is actually filled with more painful memories for me than anything since then.

But most of us turn up every week and get pumped each Feb when the pre-season winds down. That is the beauty of footy!

being a wests-tigers fan, has its highs and lows.
yes we are all feeling a bit low after the result on sat night against the bunnies.
can't wait to feel the " high" when the team wins another game, especially when it could secure a place in the finals.
once a spot has been secured, would not be suprised if wests-tigers win a couple more games.

I feel good when the team plays to its potential, plays their best regardless of the result.

Eg: the loss to saints was better imo than many of our wins.

I hope i can come over soon to Oz and watch a Wests game or two to experiance what its like to follow Wests and hopfully meet some of the users on here, as long as you dont mind me starting some songs at the match
