What would you say is the biggest rivalry in the NRL right now ? Tigers vs Riff is building nicely and over the next few seasons has the potential to be the biggest in the league. what would you put as the biggest right now ?

Idk about that. We hate them, but I don’t think they even think about us. It still has to be Souths/Roosters.

I do think we have a little rivalry with penrith building, ever since the Cleary fiasco all our games against them have had a bit more aggression like the leilua clothesline or the game at leichardt, and then when we played them at the end of the year we actually defended quite well

I think Ivan's departure debacle will fester in the hearts of Tiger fans for sometime. Local derbys, dockers v's white collar workers, battle over junior territories, boundary disputes, stealing players. There is usually a reason behind it and a generational thing - that why it's the battle of the cats for me.

We hate Penriff, after the Leichhardt game, they hate us........but its like 3 years old. Hard to go past Roosters v Souffs.

I agree with others…We hate Penrith but they are pretty ambivalent towards us. They don’t consider us a rival.
Chooks and Bunnies are a fair dinkum rivalry with hate from both sides. We could see some decent suspensions next time they play.

They think about us. Put money on it. You can see it in Voldemorts face when he gets interviewed.

I don't even think we are in Penrith's top 5. Parra, Storm, Dogs (Barret, Burton etc), Sharks and now Rabbits

There are no real rivalries left.

Wests v Manly late 70s early 80s make modern rivalries seem petty.

And how!
And to think it all started in a trial game down in Melbourne ......

1. Nsw QLD
2. Rabbits Roosters
3. Manly Melbourne
4. Dogs Eels

These rivalries matter usually even despite any leading storyline or regardless of ladder positions.

That was the trigger.

But really it was all about only certain club's being allowed to win and the omnipotent establishment suppressing the others. The others also included Parramatta, South's amongst others.

Wests were just Rugby leagues Robin Hood.

Miss the days I waved a small black and white Eureka stockade flag.

That was rivalry.

The downfall of the clubman killed a lot of rivalries. You don't get many one-club players anymore. If a club goes through a bad patch, the player roster gets cleaned out and the club loses all of its culture. A lot of players have no idea about their club's history. They don't have team mates to teach them about rivalries, and why we may have a chip on our shoulder from certain opposition.

So e.g. Dogs vs Eels has lost its shine due to both clubs cleaning house at least once in the last decade.
