Blake Austin

He needs to start at 6 and Anasta dropped. From the moment he went on, he took control. He scored a solo try right on half-time which got us back into the game. He directed traffic beautifully and set it up fro Brookes to kick the field goal. And what about the penalty from the short kick off. Anasta didn't know what to do til Blake told him to give the ball to Richards and take the 2.

No doubt Blake Austin should be our 6.

I dunno I think he was awesome at hooker and we need one for the next few games. I dunno who'd be more effective out of Luani and Anasta.

Yeh I agree. But I also said in another thread that I thought he could do well at dummy half with farah out and think he did so there today. I'd leave him in that role until farah is back and then no 6 from then…

I don't think anyone would disagree with you, but I can't see us dropping Anasta nor wasting a bench spot with him. Can't see Potter making the tough call here.

Not sure what to do, maybe Austin at 9? not that Luani was terrible or anything.

Austin will stay at 9 until Farah is back. Hopefully then Potter bites the bullet and we never see anasta again.

I hear what you're saying about playing Black at 9 but I didn't see Luani do a whole lot wrong. I'm keen to see his stats.
Potter isn't silly, he saw what we saw when Blake came on. Dropping Anasta would be a tough decision but he's made them before

I'd have Austin starting for sure, I love his work rate and involvement, he's always around the ball.

I agree it should be at hooker until Robbie is fit, then shift him to 6 and either bench Anasta or drop him unfortunately.

I don't think that will happen though, and I don't think Braith wants to move to 2nd row or lock.

In our full strength side, it should be a straight swap, Austin for Braith.

Yeah he must have loved Austin at hooker because he didn't let Luani back in there for the rest of the game. When Luani came back on it was as a backrower. He did well there though, a couple of nice runs.

My preference would be Blake at 6, Luani at 9 amd Braith at LRO. However, I suspect Potter will keep picking Braith so Austin at 9 for me.

Austin was very good, his try turned the game (again  ) .
IMHO he should be our 5/8, his running game is much better than Anasta's.
Go Tigers :sign:

100% agree. The gme totally shifted from a mess to looking the goods when Austin came on. There is no doubting his abilty compared to Anasta and as ive said in another thread, Anasta/Brooks calming affect excuse is dead.

We fought hard but there is no doubt in the world, we got lucky. There was no attack with anasta/Brooks. Nothing.

The forwards were the difference.

Austin MUST be special because he played his first ever game at hooker in a pressure cooker in front of 50k and was close to best on ground. Only real talents can adapt like that.

Didn't think of that, but it would have been a challenge that he took in both hands and chocked it to death. Stocked.

Austin on Twitter "Thanks so much to all the fans today. Of both team. Great for rugby league. You tiger fans were massive. Awesome to play for. #itsmylife"

Similar tweets all year. Love his attitude. Breath of fresh air given the crap we have been hearing the last few years.

no hate for Luani, he filled the position well but Blake filled the roll… we were missing a dominant call, that step forward with ball in hand that has markers thinking twice about committing to him or waiting for a pig to jam them, he had the gift of buying attacking time...

I think both Blake and the team will be served well with him continuing at 9 as Farah heals, assuming the role of organiser which will pay divedends as he steps back into a playmaker roll to assist Brooks and Braith shifted out into aged care.
