Bloke in a Bar Season Preview

Annoys me how they claim last years squad wasn't Benjis'
It’s such a BS narrative and a lot of fans on here peddle it as well.
There’s nothing wrong with admitting he has got it wrong twice now and with the aid of some more elite players plus the experience of fking up twice he will hopefully do a lot better.

And that the Administration sacked Sheens prematurely....
You'd have I think the Assistants had a little something (or a lot) to do with that,
It's not like the first time they'd knifed him.

For mine, I think the Coaches ambition and confidence in himself climaxed a little early more so than the coach was moved on because of the job that was getting done.

So many choices, so many decisions to be made, and these guys threw up even more choices that I would not have even considered.

Really hope the right choices are made.

So when the rubber meets the road, I'm a bit more confident than these guys, I've said it before and I still think we can break out of that bottom 4 and finish around 10th.

I've been watching the Manly Youtube series "The Manly way". It's mostly a load of self-pleasuring bs but I do think we should copy one part of their pre-season.
They're not playing any of their senior players like DCE and Turbo in the trials.
The last thing I want to see is Luai running around for no reason and picking up a season ending injury.

that’s fine to rest Luia … I’m sure he has been doing plenty of extra work anyway…

I think the forwards could do with a preseason hit out though ..,, The Round 1 game is there for the taking … and they need to start strong over the first 7 rounds …

I know conventional wisdom is to rest the stars for the first trial, but with so many new players, we should give them 20-30 minutes to get some time together in the middle.

The other thing is, despite the fact the pre-season challenge means nothing, it is a competition that ultimately comes with a trophy and some prize money. It would be good for a little bit of morale to win something with the new group to start the year.

They all want Douehi to partner Olam in the centres?

I don't know about that. Douehi can be an attacking weapon, but his defence (apart from his famous 65m chase 🤔) leaves a lot to be desired. Olam, when he was on the field had his fair share of really bad defensive reads.

I'd give Olam a chance to prove he's able to run freely on those much maligned knees, but I'd personally prefer a different combination than what these guys are picking in the top 17.

For some reason, Doueihi is highly rated by this club and even the wider NRL community.
I dont get it personally and never have. He must do and say all the right things at training and in meetings.
That said, I predicted this same starting centre partnership last year to howls of dissapproval. I think its what they will go with.

I swear a lot of these 'experts' dont actually watch footy

Last week Jimmy Smith said ' I dont see how the tigers improve after losing their best two forward from last year in Stefano and Papalli'
