Blues favourite for game 1

Qld had a hit out last night against NZ i am not sure the Blues will be having any trial matches.

1\. Josh Dugan
2\. Josh Mansour
3\. Michael Jennings
4\. Josh Morris
5\. Blake Ferguson
6\. James Maloney
7\. Aiden Sezer
8\. Aaron Woods
9\. Robbie Farah
10\. James Tamou
11\. Boyd Cordner
12\. Josh Jackson
13\. Paul Gallen

Reserves
14\. Andrew Fifita
15\. David Klemmer
16\. Beau Scott
17\. Bryce Cartwright

It was hard to leave out Ryan Hoffman but the warriors have been going so badly and i think we need a change. Wanted to find a spot for Chris Lawrence as he could cover back row and backline but i think Bryce Cartwright is a better option. Our halves are a lottery but i have chosen 2 players with great kicking games and a goal kicker. Had to have some aggression with Fifita and Klemmer off the bench.

Have a real problem with some choices people are making.

E.g. Jennings, Bird, Cordner, Gallen, Cartwright etc.

Not sure what the answer is, but I do know that if we pick the right side - they could beat Dad's Army. Half the team against NZ was from QLD and they did not look good.

NSW could potentially be just as much of a Dad's army if they pick Bird, Gallen, Scott, Farah and Hoffman to rival JT, Cronk, Smith, Parker and Lillyman.

Someone picked Jack Bird, not Greg Bird. That was a problem for me.

You are right Nelson - with Daly picking a team we could end up with the old favorites again and we go nowhere.

Ah right. Yeah Jack Bird has a lot of talent but he's still finding his feet at club level, I wouldn't put him anywhere near a rep side yet.

Cartwright I would be tempted to pick. I know he's going to be a massive defensive liability if he plays long minutes but I think he'd be ok off the bench. It would be a big gamble picking him though given he just can't help but push for the big play. He's pretty much guaranteed of turning some ball over doing that and that can really hurt in Origin. If they're picking boring flogs like Gallen though then maybe they need to take a risk with Cartwright.

Of course NSW are favourites the game is played at ANZ stadium and NSW have won the majority of matches at ANZ even during the QLD's big winning run.

2015 - 1 game at ANZ QLD did win but it was 11-10 with a FG
2014 - 1 game at ANZ NSW won
2013 - 2 games at ANZ NSW won 1 and lost 1 by a penalty goal
2012 - 1 game at ANZ NSW won
2011 - 1 game at ANZ NSW won

So over 5 years during a period of QLD dominance we have 6 games and won 4 lost 2 with those 2 being by 1 or 2 points so NSW deserve to be favourites.

Yep especially after being thoroughly, humiliatingly embarrassed after offering such a gutless and shameful performance last game with the series on the line…

Honestly, if NSW lose this year's series once again, I propose QLD play the NSW women's side next year. They may put up more of a fight?

They became favourites when Pearce ruled himself out.

I have a feeling if Pearce plays he'll win player of the series, I don't know why but I have a strong feeling he will be very influential if he does play.

It would certainly go against the trend of his previous appearances at origin level.
