I have no doubt we can make the Top 8 playing this brand of football. We have 5 props dominating the middle of the field and Farah is causing havoc playing direct at the line. There is no one more creative at 9 then Farah and he finally has a pack to just dominate off. Obviously we need to avoid the injury curse which we seem to be also on the edge of.
This style of play is not reliant on whether the passes stick. We played a "whether the passes stick" brand of football for a decade. That why we were so inconsistent. Many, many of our wins in 2010 and 2011 were fluky come from behind wins that were won on a piece of skill rather then any great style of play. They were wins when we were awful for 50 minutes, but 30 minutes of good play scratched us over the line.
This style allows us to be much more consistent over the course of 80 minutes. You used to see the Tigers be great for 15 minutes, then awful for 20\. OK we have seen a bit of that in our losses but our wins have been utterly dominant. Utterly dominant against 3 sides known for their physically and toughness.
There was a different atmosphere around Liechhardt today. Fans can sense the side is totally reinventing themselves. Huge forward chargers were greeted with large cheers. Percentage kicks were granted with large cheers,. Taking the 2 greeted with cheers. The fans were sick of the side to side stuff and like to see percentage football and aggressive football.
Ok this is a young side with some areas of weakness. Defence is still average at times, the centres and backrow weaknesses. However we are developing a game plan that can dominate sides with noted packs. The comp is a bit crazy and has not settled down yet. However I think the way we are playing the boys will get more and more consistent as the year goes on (please injury gods just for once lay off us!)
Big wraps to Potter and the forwards whole mentality this year They are hunting as a pack and everything happens off the back of that.
