Do these guys have no foresight? The Magpies returning would be a complete disaster. These guys have been there every step of the way for our wooden spoons and failures, yet they think they can run an NRL team? And not just any NRL team, they would be picking up the pieces of an already failing club. To top it off, I could see them being the most hated team in the NRL. People actually have a soft spot for WT. There would be no love for a team created by a hostile takeover.

What players would they recruit? We have a hard enough time getting players here as it is. EVERYONE in the league talks smack about our club, and how you shouldn't go there as it will ruin your career. Magpies would be that on steroids.

Put it another way - how many Bears fans stayed with after Manly took over the licence? Manly were already a moderately powerful club at that point; Wests Magpies haven't been a powerful club since before I was born.

the backside would drop out of the membership and fan base, more members attend LO than CSS at present, although more games at CSS it would be a big risk. If CSS was the answer full time then magpies would never have had to merge in the first place.
likewise fulltime LO would not work either

You seem a good natured , optimistic and passionate fan …there are probably thousands like you .. it does seem a shame that this can happen at the direction of just a few people … seems to be like a lot of other things happening around the world unfortunately…

Ashford doesnt need to sell. When is the NRL license renewal up?

NRL got involved a while ago and they're the ones that implemented the independent board.

In order to be a successful sporting franchise, the priority has to be winning, excellence, community engagement and obviously sponsorships.

These guys don't care about that.

You need to think long term to address these issues and no one is thinking longer than their 12 month term there.

I am fairly certain that I no longer support the club but probably just the NRL team.

I was going to support Perth since I live here but with Meninga as coach and Joe hockey on the board then all is be doing is changing from one crap show to another.

These greedy gutless imbeciles at HBG will never understand.

Supporting a club is like that ray of hope & positivity in most supporter's lives. No matter what is happening in a person's life and the world, there is always a Wests Tigers game to look forward to and lately there has been plenty of hope on and off the field to go with that.

I'm still positive there can be a good outcome out of this but it will require Richo at his political & strategising best.

I really doubt it but time will tell. It’s the natural story for the media to run.
A bigger threat I think is a club decides it wants Richo and capitalises on this issue to make him an offer he can’t refuse. If I was a club and wanted Richo I’d pounce now.

Why would he even think of staying? He needs a board that will push through his reforms not a board that will direct him what reforms to introduce. The HB would be over the moon with his departure because they could put their puppet into the job.

Richo is possibly the best thing that has happened to this club since that great night in 2005 and the Fwits at Ashfield are or have, forced him out the door.

Pride for one, the support of thousands of fans who see him as a messiah & an opportunity to go down in history as the person who saved the club from self-destruction.

So even if that's not really going to happen, you should not have the Chairman of HBG (and representative on the Wests Tigers Board) saying such things. It just continues to open up opportunities to drive a wedge in.

Apart from all that, I am personally sick of the HBG dysfunction. The WT Independent Board members have gone about their business professionally and quietly. No ructions, no public spats, no leaked information... and generally speaking people could see the forward progress - the new stadium strategy, the profits and increase in corporate/sponsorship etc.

Compared to HBG - Simon Cook steps down, HBG have a civil war and 3 of the OG Wests Ashfield people are hooked and banned for a decade, HBG resist then finally follow the independent review, Julie Romero gets knifed, and then the independent board gets sacked.

THIS ALL HAPPENED INSIDE 12 MONTHS.

Sick of the HBG bullshit. Sick of the club failures being tied to the lack of stability or capability of the owners. They run a successful Leagues Club based on pokie revenues - that is not translating into on-field success. Since Wests Ashfield took over Tigers have never made the finals and claimed 3 wooden spoons. The club was not a great success story prior to that, but the worst years have undoubtedly been the Wests Ashfield ownership years.

I don't want to be associated with Wests Ashfield any more; I love my Wests Magpies brothers and sisters and they are in the same pickle as we all are - our club is owned by morons who can't help but get in the way, barge into the kitchen, poke the baking cake, taste-test the stock and just touch everything because 30 years ago they put up money for a chook raffle. FO HBG, nobody cares about you or your egos or your feelings or your photo on the website. FO back to your pokie den and leave the football club to people who care more about Wests Tigers than themselves.

Its been going on for 50 years and Wests Ashfield were a running joke among Magpies fans at Ashfield pub
Had to listen to my old man curse them every time we drove past WA
