Breaking news: HBG takeover

Sorry @cochise going to call this out.

I won’t debate our current owners are crap, but all versions

I thought Balmain sold that club to developers on the recommendation of a club legend.
Yeah, I agree. Elias though came in at the last minute after Labor messed up their metro budget. Benny saw a possible opportunity but ultimately could not shift the balance between government and private equity.

And so, 15 years later, the site is only now being rebuilt.

You have interpreted that statement differently to everyone else. He never said WT board members were keeping information from each other.
I didn’t say that either.
You are dismissing the possibility decisions that should have been taken tj board level were being made without them going tj board level.
If this was the case the HBG members who also sit on the Wests Tigers board would have been kept in the dark.
If this is not correct and it has been fabricated by the HBG, the board meeting minutes should have the answers.

If that was going on that’s what the statement yesterday should have said directly, and we wouldn’t all be so up in arms.

95% of Wests Tigers supporters are believing one side of the story without knowing the truth.
No problem to suspect the HBG are the ones in the wrong, but we do not know for sure just yet.
If they are the ones in the wrong, I honestly think PVL and the NRL will intervene and find a way to revoke their licence.
Here is an excerpt from the joint statement of all 4 independent directors.

“We reject any suggestion of a lack of communication with Holman Barnes Group. Holman Barnes Group is represented on the board of the Wests Tigers and its representative has been present at all Wests Tigers board meetings and provided with all board information. No concerns have been raised by the representative of Holman Barnes Group at any Wests Tigers board.”

A forum of opinions operates like that doesn’t it. We all have opinions on here. But someone coming in and making something up (calling it a rumour) and then arguing it as fact, that’s always likely to get the response it deserves.
Normally 4 board members do not and cannot get dismissed without a genuine reason.
If there is no genuine reason for it, the HBG are bringing a lot of heat on themselves and will have a lot of explaining to do.
For those who want them gone and I don’t blame anyone that does, this could and likely will be their own demise if they have done this for no good reason.

This is the same group of people who have been in the newspapers constantly in recent years for petty infighting. Their board positions are bought not earned. I’m not sure why it’s such a stretch to think they’ve bungled this up.

Excerpts from a post on Linkedin today from independent director Charlie Viola:

“We had been working wonderfully well with management and felt like the board had been aligned at all times including the owners representatives who were at every board meeting, and party to every decision and every bit of material.

“I am a passionate Wests Tigers fan, I loved the fact I could contribute, so I am disappointed to no longer have a role and I don’t agree with the actions taken by Holman Barnes Group. I also refute any claims that communication wasn’t at a high standard. Their representative was at every meeting. They had a representative on every sub committee.”

I know you have a strong opinion on this topic and would love the HBG no longer involved with Wests Tigers BWG.
Knowing PVL and the NRL hate bad publicity, don’t you think it could be a blessing in disguise in potentially having the HBG licence revoked if it is proven they have removed the independent board members without good reason ?

There is absolutely a chance they have bungled this up.
There is also a chance they had a genuine reason for dismissing the independent board members and if that is the case everyone glass been jumping to conclusions for no good reason.

Watch the Daniel Paton statement you ignorant imbecile.
When you are happy to pour millions into the club annually and not be given the courtesy tu be consulted about major decisions, maybe then you will understand.
Stay cool bro 🙂.

Even if the independent board members had over-reached (which most don’t believe), do you not think a less public reaction including warnings would have been more appropriate? This HBG are just dumb as f$&k.

If the NRL uncover poor governance on behalf of HBG and mistruths from its representative/s on this matter, there will be ramifications. What that will be, who knows but they will ensure it brings proper corp governance.

We’re in big trouble people. So long as HBG is involved it is a lost cause.
Because up to this point it’s been such smooooooooth sailing!

Pearl clutchers and certain shade of orange fans are getting upset at this? lol. The club has been a lost cause for decades. This is far from even top 5 off season shenanigans.
